35:1
Of David.
Yahweh, contend with those who contend with me.
Do battle with those who do battle with me.
35:2
Seize small shield and large shield
And arise with my helper/help.
35:3
Draw a spear and a handle of a lance to meet my pursuers
Say to my soul/life, “Your salvation I am”.
35:4
Let them be ashamed and let them be humiliated,
Seekers of my soul
Let them be driven back behind [forced to retreat?],
Those who devise my destruction/bad/evil.
35:5
They will be like chaff in the face of the wind
And the angel of Yahweh pushing.
35:6
And let their way be darkness and slipperiness
And the angel of Yahweh pursuing them.
35:7
For without cause they hide for me a pit
Their net without cause they dig for my life.
35:8
Let the devastation come to him
He will not know it.
And his net which he hid let it capture him
With devastation let him fall in it.
35:9
And my soul with rejoice in Yahweh
Let it exalt in his salvation.
35:10
All my bones say,
Yahweh, who is like you among delivering the poor/weak from strong from them
and poor and needy from the one who robs him
35:11
A witness of violence arises
What I don’t know they ask me.
35:12
They will repay me evil for good,
Bereavement to my soul.
35:13
And I, when they were sick, my garment was sackcloth.
I humbled my self/soul in fasting
My prayer returned on my bossom.
35:14
Like a friend, like a brother,
I walked around like one mourning a mother,
Being dark I was bowed down.
35:15
And in my stumbling
Beatings were added, they were added upon me,
And I did not know
They tore and were not silent.
35:16
Profane mockers mockery
They gnash their teeth at me.
35:17
My Lord, what do you see?
Cause to turn back my soul from their debt collectors.
From young lions, my only one
35:18
I praise you in the great congregation
With numerous people I will praise you.
35:19
Let my enemies not rejoice at me
Those who hate me falsely without cause, let their eye [not] be nipped/winked
35:20
For they do not speak peace
And on the quiet land they plan things of deceit.
35:21
They will enlarge upon me their mouth
They says, ‘Aha, Aha’,
Our eyes see.
35:22
Yahweh, You see.
You are not silent my Lord
Don’t be distant from me.
35:23
Rouse yourself and awaken for my judgement
My God, my Lord, for my dispute/case.
35:24
Judge me according to your righteousness, Yahweh my God.
And let them not rejoice at me.
35:25
Let them not say in their heart ‘aha’.
Of our life let them not say, we have swallowed him up
35:26
Let them be ashamed and humiliated altogether.
Those who rejoice about my distress, let them wear shame
Those who make great insult at me.
35:27
Let them allulate and rejoice who delight of my righteousness
And let them say continually ‘Become great, Yahweh’
The one delighting in the peace of his servant.
35:28
My tongue will utter your righteousness,
All the day your praise.
