15-Minute Choice Time – Te Reo Māori Learning Journey
Kia ora e te whānau!
Take 2 minutes to choose one activity from the list below — then use the remaining time to dive into your mahi and express your learning in te reo Māori.
Draw or design an image digital (Picture Prompts & Māui AI Journey scroll down), or in your book.
Write a short description in te reo Māori or create a mini conversation between characters.
Use kupu from recent lessons or explore new ones.
Create 3–5 images that show a sequence (e.g. a day at the beach, a trip to the marae, a game of kēmu).
Write a short story in te reo Māori to go with it. Feel free to try CoPilot and Updated Prompt but do not go beyond your level, because you need to proof read and correct, as CoPilot is still learning Te Reo. Instructions, the Literacy Coach might be really bad, but you could try it!
Use sentence starters like: I te ata…, Ka haere mātou…, Nāwai rā…
Use the Deliberate Acts of Language Learning (DALLs) to reflect:
Noticing – What new kupu or structures did you notice?
Collecting – What language are you collecting today?
Recording – Where did you write it down?
Reviewing – How will you come back to it?
Repeating – When will you use it again?
Recycling – Can you use it in a new context?
Rehearsing – Can you practise it aloud?
Adding cognitive depth – What does it mean? How does it work? What does it connect to?
Write or record your reflection in te reo Māori or bilingually.

Create a title and add today’s work to your chosen space.
