Genesis 1:1-31
God Creates the Heavens and the Earth
1 In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth.
2 Now the earth was formless and empty, darkness was over the surface of the deep, and the Spirit of God was hovering over the waters.
3 And God said, "Let there be light," and there was light. 4 God saw that the light was good, and He separated the light from the darkness. 5 God called the light "day," and the darkness he called "night." And there was evening, and there was morning—the first day.
6 And God said, "Let there be an expanse between the waters to separate water from water." 7 So God made the expanse and separated the water under the expanse from the water above it. And it was so. 8 God called the expanse "sky." And there was evening, and there was morning—the second day.
9 And God said, "Let the water under the sky be gathered to one place, and let dry ground appear." And it was so. 10 God called the dry ground "land," and the gathered waters he called "seas." And God saw that it was good.
11 Then God said, "Let the land produce vegetation: seed-bearing plants and trees on the land that bear fruit with seed in it, according to their various kinds." And it was so. 12 The land produced vegetation: plants bearing seed according to their kinds and trees bearing fruit with seed in it according to their kinds. And God saw that it was good. 13 And there was evening, and there was morning—the third day.
14 And God said, "Let there be lights in the expanse of the sky to separate the day from the night, and let them serve as signs to mark seasons and days and years, 15 and let them be lights in the expanse of the sky to give light on the earth." And it was so. 16 God made two great lights—the greater light to govern the day and the lesser light to govern the night. He also made the stars. 17 God set them in the expanse of the sky to give light on the earth, 18 to govern the day and the night, and to separate light from darkness. And God saw that it was good. 19 And there was evening, and there was morning—the fourth day.
20 And God said, "Let the water teem with living creatures, and let birds fly above the earth across the expanse of the sky." 21 So God created the great creatures of the sea and every living and moving thing with which the water teems, according to their kinds, and every winged bird according to its kind. And God saw that it was good. 22 God blessed them and said, "Be fruitful and increase in number and fill the water in the seas, and let the birds increase on the earth." 23 And there was evening, and there was morning—the fifth day.
24 And God said, "Let the land produce living creatures according to their kinds: livestock, creatures that move along the ground, and wild animals, each according to its kind." And it was so. 25 God made the wild animals according to their kinds, the livestock according to their kinds, and all the creatures that move along the ground according to their kinds. And God saw that it was good.
26 Then God said, "Let us make man in our image, in our likeness, and let them rule over the fish of the sea and the birds of the air, over the livestock, over all the earth, and over all the creatures that move along the ground."
27 So God created man in his own image,
in the image of God he created him;
male and female he created them.
28 God blessed them and said to them, "Be fruitful and increase in number; fill the earth and subdue it. Rule over the fish of the sea and the birds of the air and over every living creature that moves on the ground."
29 Then God said, "I give you every seed-bearing plant on the face of the whole earth and every tree that has fruit with seed in it. They will be yours for food. 30 And to all the beasts of the earth and all the birds of the air and all the creatures that move on the ground—everything that has the breath of life in it—I give every green plant for food." And it was so.
31 God saw all that he had made, and it was very good. And there was evening, and there was morning—the sixth day.
Hebrews 4:12-13
The Living Bible
12 For the word of God is living and active. Sharper than any double-edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart. 13 Nothing in all creation is hidden from God's sight. Everything is uncovered and laid bare before the eyes of him to whom we must give account.
John 4:24
God is Spirit
24 God is spirit, and his worshipers must worship in the Spirit and in truth.
John 1:1-5
The Word Was and Is God
1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.2 He was with God in the beginning. 3 Through him all things were made; without him nothing was made that has been made. 4 In him was life, and that life was the light of all mankind. 5 The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it.
John 1:14
The Word Becomes Flesh
14 The Word became flesh and made his dwelling among us. We have seen his glory, the glory of the one and only Son, who came from the Father, full of grace and truth.
Philippians 2:5-13 (KJV)
From Word to Flesh
5 Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus:
6 Who, being in the form of God, thought it not robbery to be equal with God:
7 But made himself of no reputation, and took upon him the form of a servant, and was made in the likeness of men:
8 And being found in fashion as a man, he humbled himself, and became obedient unto death, even the death of the cross.
9 Wherefore God also hath highly exalted him, and given him a name which is above every name:
10 That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of things in heaven, and things in earth, and things under the earth;
11 And that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.
12 Wherefore, my beloved, as ye have always obeyed, not as in my presence only, but now much more in my absence, work out your own salvation with fear and trembling.
13 For it is God which worketh in you both to will and to do of his good pleasure.
Moses uses the words "And God said" and "Then God said" in the first chapter of Genesis...I suppose he could written "the Word of God" instead of "And God said" and "Then God said"...The Word of God is Almighty, and when God speaks things happen...And God said, "Let there be light," and there was Light...God saw that the Light was good, and He separated the Light from the darkness...And God said this -and then there was an expanse between the waters to separate water from water...And God said "Let the water under the sky be gathered to one place, and let dry ground appear." And it was so....And so it was and so it went...God spoke the universe into existence...
When God spoke His Word the universe was created...The Word of God is creative, and active and alive...His very Word made creation and all thins...His Word has been powerful and Almighty and from the very beginning...Jesus was with God in the beginning...And through Jesus all things were made; without Him nothing was made that has been made...In Him was life and is life, and that life was the Light of all mankind...His Light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it...His Word is sharper than any double-edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart...God's Word judges all our thoughts and the attitude of our heart...He knows our very mood and how we feel and what we think...
As part of God's Plan He would have His Word would become flesh...The Word of God changed from Spirit to Flesh...And for God, who is Spirit, to become Flesh -we should and would expect some unusual, and great, and some mysteries, and many things we just cannot put our finger on in understanding, because we are women and men and not Spirit...We, as man, find it hard to believe sometimes in the supernatural...We question and doubt the Supernatural sometimes...And He is the most Supernatural Entity there is in the universe...Things like this (Spirit becoming Flesh) just do not happen often...In fact, this has only happened once...Now, I think we as men and mankind -would like for God or Jesus to be walking around with us physically...But God chose in His wisdom -just this one time would He have Jesus walk the earth, until His second coming...I would call this (Spirit to Flesh) a matter of faith as God becomes Jesus in the flesh and walks the earth...I use the words a matter of faith, because if He was always coming and going from heaven, we would not need our faith, because He would be here with us so often, that we have Him and our faith and hope in Him is and would be right there in the flesh...I believe when and where Truth meets faith -we are in heaven...
And what I find very interesting is all the controversy surrounding Jesus and the Truth...The Pharisees of His time, who had read about a Messiah, who was to come in the Old Testament Scripture -does make His way to earth...The Pharisees, along with many other wise and educated other parties (of His time) find Him very controversial...Now when we think about this, He is not a controversial figure at all, because He is God -and God is Love...The reason for all this controversy of His time, when He came is -that the Pharisees and other groups do not believe Him...And why I say this is interesting -the controversy is still here today surrounding Jesus...But that is true if and only if you do not believe who He is...If one believes in Him, or if everyone believed in Him, there would be no controversy...And again this is a matter of faith, on whether you believe who He says He is and was...
The Word came to teach us more about God...He very well could have came and crushed us for our sins, but no He came with a humble heart, no reputation, a Servant and Teacher of man -to show us the true heart of God...The world has forever changed since the Word became Flesh...The world still today two thousand years later, regularly talks of this Word who became flesh...The Word is Truth...And it is very difficult to keep the Truth down -even with controversy...
After we fell from grace in the garden, being fooled and tricked by the evil one -we have never made it back to the garden...We have taken on a nature of sin...And despite this, He decided to come and humble Himself for us and to us, and even take on the most tortuous of deaths of His time -a crucifixion...Our Lord and our Savior was hung on a cross...And He did that for us...The Word becoming Flesh, Spirit becoming Flesh, shows us the Love He has for us...
