Deuteronomy 4:29
Seek God with Our Heart and Our Soul
29 But if from there you seek the LORD your God, you will find him if you seek him with all your heart and with all your soul.
John 16:12-15
The Holy Spirit Guides Us to the Truth
12 “I have much more to say to you, more than you can now bear. 13 But when he, the Spirit of truth, comes, he will guide you into all the truth. He will not speak on his own; he will speak only what he hears, and he will tell you what is yet to come. 14 He will glorify me because it is from me that he will receive what he will make known to you.15 All that belongs to the Father is mine. That is why I said the Spirit will receive from me what he will make known to you.”
John 18:28-40
Pilate Asks Jesus "What is Truth"
28 Then the Jewish leaders took Jesus from Caiaphas to the palace of the Roman governor. By now it was early morning, and to avoid ceremonial uncleanness they did not enter the palace, because they wanted to be able to eat the Passover. 29 So Pilate came out to them and asked, “What charges are you bringing against this man?”
30 “If he were not a criminal,” they replied, “we would not have handed him over to you.”
31 Pilate said, “Take him yourselves and judge him by your own law.”
“But we have no right to execute anyone,” they objected. 32 This took place to fulfill what Jesus had said about the kind of death he was going to die.
33 Pilate then went back inside the palace, summoned Jesus and asked him, “Are you the king of the Jews?”
34 “Is that your own idea,” Jesus asked, “or did others talk to you about me?”
35 “Am I a Jew?” Pilate replied. “Your own people and chief priests handed you over to me. What is it you have done?”
36 Jesus said, “My kingdom is not of this world. If it were, my servants would fight to prevent my arrest by the Jewish leaders. But now my kingdom is from another place.”
37 “You are a king, then!” said Pilate.
Jesus answered, “You say that I am a king. In fact, the reason I was born and came into the world is to testify to the truth. Everyone on the side of truth listens to me.”
38 “What is truth?” retorted Pilate. With this he went out again to the Jews gathered there and said, “I find no basis for a charge against him. 39 But it is your custom for me to release to you one prisoner at the time of the Passover. Do you want me to release ‘the king of the Jews’?”
40 They shouted back, “No, not him! Give us Barabbas!” Now Barabbas had taken part in an uprising.
John 10:25-30
Jesus Says I and the Father are One
25 Jesus answered, “I did tell you, but you do not believe. The works I do in my Father’s name testify about me, 26 but you do not believe because you are not my sheep. 27 My sheep listen to my voice; I know them, and they follow me. 28 I give them eternal life, and they shall never perish; no one will snatch them out of my hand. 29 My Father, who has given them to me, is greater than all; no one can snatch them out of my Father’s hand. 30 I and the Father are one.”
John 1:14
Jesus is Truth
14 The Word became flesh and made his dwelling among us. We have seen his glory, the glory of the one and only Son, who came from the Father, full of grace and truth.
John 14:6-7
Jesus Says He is Truth
6 Jesus answered, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me. 7 If you really know me, you will know my Father as well. From now on, you do know him and have seen him.”
It takes logic and reasoning from our thoughts and different mental processes to get to us to the Truth...It seems as we read the Bible, and all we read about the Truth, that Truth is not just a simple fact...In this respect, Truth is not the plain and simple...Truth is complex...And as one reads about Truth, it seems to travel upstream and against the current...
The total reasoning process in our brains and the way it happens is currently unknown to man...Jon Kabat Zinn, an expert on mindfulness, says that our thoughts are mental and discreet events...And he says many of our thoughts are not truth, and not fact...He is right in saying, each and every one of our thoughts is not a fact...And that each and every thought we have is not the Truth...Many of our thoughts are not truths at all...Some are imaginings and fantasy...Thoughts are just part of the mental process that goes on in our thinking process...Many of our thoughts come from our past and past experiences, a memory we have had, or from a habit we have formed...And the more attention we give to a particular thought or thoughts the more we believe it is real or the truth...Yet, somehow in our thought process, we know how to and can get to reason...And we know that somehow thorough our thinking and our thoughts reason and reasoning exists...And we look around the world and see that reasoning exists universally...But, even with our logic and reasoning, as we view the world around us, it seems (to me, and I maybe wrong about this) it is easier to go with the flow of the culture and society, instead of believing, speaking, and standing up for the Truth...It is harder to stand up and say what you really are thinking, when it goes against what everyone else is saying...But that is just what Jesus did, when He walked the earth...He Truthfully spoke what was on His mind...And He testified to the Truth...
So thoughts may only be mental events, but somehow the body and mind with its many parts, is guided by something or Someone to a process that ends with what we call reasoning and logic...We have feelings, sensations, and emotions, as well as our thoughts...And somehow our feelings and emotions and sensations work in a way with our thoughts (or work with Something), so that we have this ability to get to reasoning...And the heart seems to be involved in our reasoning process...And as stated earlier, this is a universal thing...The world somehow understands that there is a right and there is a wrong, and we see this by the use of our reasoning and logic...Our thoughts somehow take our brains through these personal mental events and turn them into reasoning and to logic...And from logic, we gain knowledge...I believe we are guided by a Holy Spirit...And from the knowledge we obtain, God may give us wisdom...So God is involved in our reasoning process...After all, He is our Creator...How can we be organized, think rationally, and believe in logic without God?...Without God our brain is just creating physical and chemical events at random...How can we trust our own thinking, if our thoughts are producing only some truths and some facts, and only at a random level?...How can we be drawn to the Truth, without Him?...
Pilate asked Jesus, "What is Truth?"...Jesus tells us that He is Truth...And He is a very complex Man...Jesus said He and God are One...So by Him telling us that He is Truth, and that He and His Father are One -He is telling us that God is Truth...Many of us today, think what we are thinking and our thoughts are the Truth...But that is not the case...Truth by its very nature is exclusive...And we know that all of our thoughts are not all Truth and factual...Many thoughts are just these mental events...But some still believe that whatever thought or idea we come up with in our minds is absolute fact, but it is not...Our truths are as much subjective as they are about objective truth...
For believers, we see Jesus as the Absolute Truth...So we see that life is more than our thoughts...Something makes us and helps us reason...Something guides us to the Truth from our thoughts (and these mental events)...It seems that the Holy Spirit is aiding us as and guiding us to the Truth...And through God's LOVE and grace and free will, He allows us to find Him -if we seek Him with our hearts, our souls, and our thinking minds...
But again, why believe in anything that is not the Truth...Our thoughts, our ideas, and our views should believe in the Truth...From thoughts to Truth, and the Truth will set us free and give us Salvation and help us get us to God and to Heaven...
