John 1:1-18
The Word Became Flesh
1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. 2 He was with God in the beginning. 3 Through him all things were made; without him nothing was made that has been made.4 In him was life, and that life was the light of all mankind. 5 The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it.
6 There was a man sent from God whose name was John. 7 He came as a witness to testify concerning that light, so that through him all might believe. 8 He himself was not the light; he came only as a witness to the light.
9 The true light that gives light to everyone was coming into the world.10 He was in the world, and though the world was made through him, the world did not recognize him. 11 He came to that which was his own, but his own did not receive him. 12 Yet to all who did receive him, to those who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God—13 children born not of natural descent, nor of human decision or a husband’s will, but born of God.
14 The Word became flesh and made his dwelling among us. We have seen his glory, the glory of the one and only Son, who came from the Father, full of grace and truth.
15 (John testified concerning him. He cried out, saying, “This is the one I spoke about when I said, ‘He who comes after me has surpassed me because he was before me.’”) 16 Out of his fullness we have all received grace in place of grace already given. 17 For the law was given through Moses; grace and truth came through Jesus Christ. 18 No one has ever seen God, but the one and only Son, who is himself God and is in closest relationship with the Father, has made him known.
Acts 17:24-28
God Created the Universe
24 “The God who made the world and everything in it is the Lord of heaven and earth and does not live in temples built by human hands.25 And he is not served by human hands, as if he needed anything. Rather, he himself gives everyone life and breath and everything else.26 From one man he made all the nations, that they should inhabit the whole earth; and he marked out their appointed times in history and the boundaries of their lands. 27 God did this so that they would seek him and perhaps reach out for him and find him, though he is not far from any one of us. 28 ‘For in him we live and move and have our being.’ As some of your own poets have said, ‘We are his offspring.’
At the heart of the Christian Story is a Person, His Father, and a Spirit who stand by the foundation of the world to LOVE us with a saving Truth and Grace...The Word was with God from the beginning and in the beginning...The Word was with God before time itself...And we see St. John use the word “was”, because the Word who became flesh was with God, before God created time...So when time began, the Word already existed...Since the Word already existed before time the Word was living in eternity, the eternal...
Then God created everything in the universe...And He made all things through the Word...And God did not create the universe because He needed anything, but because He is LOVING, giving and is full of abundance of life...The God who created the world and everything in it is the LORD of heaven and earth and universe...He does not live in temples built by human hands...And He did not create man because He wanted to be served by human hands, as if He needed anything...Rather, He Himself gives every man, woman, and child life and breath and everything else...
No one has ever seen God, but the One and Only Son, who is himself God and He is in closest relationship with the Father...This relationship is the Logos to the Eternal God...And God decided to send His Son to earth to dwell among us so we might know His Son, but also that we might know our Father and Creator better...This was a Divine Manifestation of the Son leaving the eternal and stepping into time...The Son is the Revelation of God... He would speak the Word of God, because He is the Word, the very Word of God...
So God spoke and created the heavens and earth -just by speaking out things were created...And in all the things He created both visible and invisible, there is a part of God, the Son, and the Holy Spirit in their DNA...How could there not be?...The creation story tells us that the Word became flesh and came to dwell among us...The Word came not to condemn us but so save us out of God's LOVE for us. ..
And creation continues...Creation continues to exist and sustain itself, because of God and the Word...Out of this Loving, Giving Abundance -God continues to be at work today sustaining and controlling creation as His Plan and His Will sees fit...
