John 1:1-18
The Word Became Flesh
1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. 2 He was with God in the beginning. 3 Through him all things were made; without him nothing was made that has been made. 4 In him was life, and that life was the light of all mankind. 5 The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it.
6 There was a man sent from God whose name was John. 7 He came as a witness to testify concerning that light, so that through him all might believe.8 He himself was not the light; he came only as a witness to the light.
9 The true light that gives light to everyone was coming into the world. 10 He was in the world, and though the world was made through him, the world did not recognize him. 11 He came to that which was his own, but his own did not receive him. 12 Yet to all who did receive him, to those who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God— 13 children born not of natural descent, nor of human decision or a husband’s will, but born of God.
14 The Word became flesh and made his dwelling among us. We have seen his glory, the glory of the one and only Son, who came from the Father, full of grace and truth.
15 (John testified concerning him. He cried out, saying, “This is the one I spoke about when I said, ‘He who comes after me has surpassed me because he was before me.’”) 16 Out of his fullness we have all received grace in place of grace already given. 17 For the law was given through Moses; grace and truth came through Jesus Christ. 18 No one has ever seen God, but the one and only Son, who is himself God and is in closest relationship with the Father, has made him known.
When St. John wrote in the beginning was the Word, the word he used for Word was the Greek word Logos...The Word is God, he wrote...The Logos is God...Logos is a complex Word...So when John originally wrote in the beginning was the Logos, he wanted us to think about what he was writing...The author's use of the word Logos is very encompassing...The word Logos would have meant more to the ancient reader than probably to us -the current day reader...Greek philosophers used this word Logos to mean not only the Word, the spoken Word, but also the unspoken word...Logos is the Word still in one's mind...Logos is not only the outward speaking and spoken word of our thought or thoughts, but also the inner thought itself...The brain and its thought and the thought processes are extremely complex, and is rational...The Logos is the rational reason of the universe that governs all things...Logos is a Word of reason, of meaning of life, and God has given us a conscious to think and have ideas...And in John's Gospel, He gives His Word, His Logos, a Man who is conscious to come and dwell with us, and to teach us these things about Him...Logos is an idea, and also where the idea came from...And we can use our minds to think about God and from our thoughts and our ideas seek Him, and be guided to Him...
The mind and the Word came and dwelt with us...He is Divine and Perfectly Moral and was with God from the very beginning...He is the Divine One who came to help us...He came into the world, and all things of this world have been made through Him...The Logos makes our world a Spiritual One controlled by God, and not a material one with matter the driving force...
We can believe that the mind God has given us is the primary or ultimate reality, or you can believe that the Big Bang Theory gives matter top priority and makes matter life's primary importance...The Big Bang Theory tells us that the universe started with a bang, and that space, time, and matter began (at the time of the Big Bag)...We can either believe we came from our Creator, God or believe we came from and evolved from chemicals and matter...Max Planck, one of the fathers of quantum physics, wrote, "As a man who has devoted his whole life to the most clear headed science, to the study of matter, I can tell you as a result of my research about atoms this much: There is no matter as such...All matter originates and exists only by virtue of a force which brings the particle of an atom to vibration and holds this most minute solar system of the atom together...We must assume behind this force the existence of a Conscious and Intelligent mind...This mind is the matrix of all matter.”...
If one believes this, then to simply put it, we either came from a Creator or we have evolved from matter...To believe that the world is a Spiritual One and the mind is over matter, one must believe in an Intelligent Designer...The mind does have One in control and there is this Matrix of All Matter, and He is God...Nature and creation were created perfectly, and in the most efficient of ways...
We have only these two choices to choose from, we either believe in God, and that Adam came before matter, or that matter somehow came first and matter shapes the world...And by believing this, matter is where everything else comes from...Believing this about matter, then man has evolved from matter...How can one explain all the mathematics and physics of the universe without an Intelligent Designer?...
