Psalm 119:105
Your Word is My Lamp
105 Your word is a lamp to my feet
and a light for my path.
Psalm 33:4
God is Truth, Faithful, and Righteous
4 For the word of the LORD is right and true; he is faithful in all he does.
John 1:1-14
The Word Became Flesh and Dwelt Among Us
1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. 2 He was with God in the beginning.
3 Through him all things were made; without him nothing was made that has been made. 4 In him was life, and that life was the light of men. 5 The light shines in the darkness, but the darkness has not understood it.
6 There came a man who was sent from God; his name was John. 7 He came as a witness to testify concerning that light, so that through him all men might believe. 8 He himself was not the light; he came only as a witness to the light. 9 The true light that gives light to every man was coming into the world.
10 He was in the world, and though the world was made through him, the world did not recognize him.11 He came to that which was his own, but his own did not receive him. 12 Yet to all who received him, to those who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God— 13 children born not of natural descent, nor of human decision or a husband’s will, but born of God.
14 The Word became flesh and made his dwelling among us. We have seen his glory, the glory of the One and Only, who came from the Father, full of grace and truth.
John 14:6
I AM Truth
6 Jesus answered, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.
John 16:12-15
The Holy Spirit Guides Us to All the Truth
12 “I have much more to say to you, more than you can now bear. 13 But when he, the Spirit of truth, comes, he will guide you into all the truth. He will not speak on his own; he will speak only what he hears, and he will tell you what is yet to come. 14 He will glorify me because it is from me that he will receive what he will make known to you. 15 All that belongs to the Father is mine. That is why I said the Spirit will receive from me what he will make known to you.”
1 John 4:8
God is Love
8 Whoever does not love does not know God, because God is love.
Matthew 22:34-40
The Two Great Commandments of LOVE
34 Hearing that Jesus had silenced the Sadducees, the Pharisees got together. 35 One of them, an expert in the law, tested him with this question:
36 "Teacher, which is the greatest commandment in the Law?" 37 Jesus replied: " 'Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.' 38 This is the first and greatest commandment. 39 And the second is like it: 'Love your neighbor as yourself.' 40 All the Law and the Prophets hang on these two commandments."
Ephesians 4:15
Speak the Truth in LOVE
15 Instead, speaking the truth in love, we will grow to become in every respect the mature body of him who is the head, that is, Christ.
Acts 8:26-35
Philip Guides an Ethiopian to the Truth
26 Now an angel of the Lord said to Philip, “Go south to the road—the desert road—that goes down from Jerusalem to Gaza.” 27 So he started out, and on his way he met an Ethiopian eunuch, an important official in charge of all the treasury of the Kandake (which means “queen of the Ethiopians”). This man had gone to Jerusalem to worship, 28 and on his way home was sitting in his chariot reading the Book of Isaiah the prophet. 29 The Spirit told Philip, “Go to that chariot and stay near it.”
30 Then Philip ran up to the chariot and heard the man reading Isaiah the prophet. “Do you understand what you are reading?” Philip asked.
31 “How can I,” he said, “unless someone explains it to me?” So he invited Philip to come up and sit with him.
32 This is the passage of Scripture the eunuch was reading:
“He was led like a sheep to the slaughter,
and as a lamb before its shearer is silent,
so he did not open his mouth.
33 In his humiliation he was deprived of justice.
Who can speak of his descendants?
For his life was taken from the earth.”
34 The eunuch asked Philip, “Tell me, please, who is the prophet talking about, himself or someone else?” 35 Then Philip began with that very passage of Scripture and told him the good news about Jesus.
Genesis 1:27
Man and Woman are Made in the Image of God
27 So God created mankind in his own image, in the image of God he created them; male and female he created them.
The Psalmist tells us the the Word of God is the Lamp for my feet as we travel the path of life...We also learn from the Psalmist, that He is Truthful, Righteous, and Faithful...
God sent His Son for us...Jesus spoke and still speaks the Word of God...Jesus came to earth in the flesh and dwelt among us...He came as close to man as any Man could come...We are to learn from Him and what He said when He was here on earth...From Him we learn much about Truth, LOVE, Graciousness, and being faithful and how the are related...Jesus teaches us much about love and much about Truth...We need His guidance...Jesus holds the key, the Golden Key for us...Jesus is the Truth...And the Holy Spirit that God sent -we are told (by Jesus) that the Spirit guides us to "all the truth.'"...Jesus is full of all the truth, and love, and is full of grace...And when Jesus started His teaching, everyday He taught humbly about God and the Word of God...As we learn all the Truth from the Holy Spirit, we learn more about Jesus...
Philip followed the Word of God...Once an angel of the LORD told the apostle Philip to “Go south to the road—the desert road—that goes down from Jerusalem to Gaza.” ...On that road Philip met an Ethiopian...The man was reading the Scripture of Isaiah and did not quite understand what he was reading...When Philip was ask by an Ethiopian for some help in explaining and guiding him through the Book of Isaiah, he obliged...It was probably odd that the Ethiopian even had a Bible or this Scripture...Philip guided him through the Scripture and explained to him, that Isaiah was writing about the Messiah, the True Son of God...The Man who was led to slaughter, like a lamb and was silent before His death, and was deprived of justice, and was take from us from the earth was, in fact, Jesus...The Christ that was to come had indeed come...Philip helped the Ethiopian learn more about Truth, His LOVE, and His Graciousness...Philip had planted seeds of truth that likely would be spread into Ethiopia...
In life, as Philip saw with the Ethiopian we are given signs and paths to take -often to help people...These are signs and paths from God and His Son...When we study Him and follow Him, St. Paul says our faith grows and we mature -and we become in every respect the mature body of Him who is the head, that is, Christ....We learn more and more from Him, as we follow His path...And on this path, when we follow His Word, we find out Truth -and this Truth is attached to LOVE and grace...It is like Truth, LOVE, and His Grace all have become one in the body of Jesus...We also learn of His great humbleness...
When God sent His Son to us, He wanted us to learn that He is Truth, Loving, Humble, and full of Grace...There will be signs along the path of life so we may see these things...We may need others to sometimes guide us and help us in life with different things and seeing different things...As we take His path in life and follow His Word, we learn more about His attributes the the further along the path we get with Him and His Son...He made us in His Image and He wants us too, to be truthful, loving, humble, and gracious...
