John 4:24
God is Spirit
24God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth.
Romans 8:9-11
Christ in You in Spirit
9 You, however, are controlled not by the sinful nature but by the Spirit, if the Spirit of God lives in you. And if anyone does not have the Spirit of Christ, he does not belong to Christ. 10 But if Christ is in you, your body is dead because of sin, yet your spirit is alive because of righteousness. 11 And if the Spirit of him who raised Jesus from the dead is living in you, he who raised Christ from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies through his Spirit, who lives in you.
John 1:1-2
Jesus was with God in the Beginning
1In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. 2He was with God in the beginning.
God is Spirit...Since God is described by Jesus as Spirit, we think in terms of God not having a physical body...God being a Spirit, therefore, is invisible to the eye...This may make it a little, if not a lot harder, to relate to our Father...Sometimes, if not most of the time, when we think about a Spirit, or as God as Spirit, we think of it as an idea, something abstract...Sometimes, we think of a Spirit as an attitude...We sometimes do not think of a Spirit as real...A Spirit maybe thought of as something they talked about in the ancient times...(I would suggest that either in ancient times or modern times, men are men -and there are still modern theists and today's believers, who talk about the Spirit)...Maybe in the ancient times Spiritual things and things of Spiritual were more important and talked about more than today's daily desires and daily pleasures, but this is only a guess...
But God is real, no matter the times...I think, because we have a hard time relating to a Spirit than to a physical human body, one of the reasons God sent Jesus to us, when He did, was to allow us to reconnect with Him...God sent His Son to us, so we could see and believe not only in His Son, but in Him...When I read the gospels, I feel a Charisma, an Authority, a Spirit in Jesus...There is a Spirit of Christ and He is a Person...Jesus might be said to be a Spirit clothed in physical human flesh...Jesus was closer to God than anyone ever, and spoke the Mind of God...Jesus could do this, because He is His Son, and He has been with Him from the beginning...Yet, even though God may have had many reasons to send His Son, the main reason was to die on the cross for our sins...
St. Paul tells us that if the Spirit of God dwells in us, then Jesus dwells in us...If we do not have Jesus in us, then we do not belong to Christ...The Spirit of God who raised Jesus from the dead, will also raise us from the dead, when it is our time...Because our bodies our mortal, but the Holy Spirit that dwells in each of us, lives on forever...Jesus was a Man, if it is fair to call Him a Man...
The Spirit of Christ that St. Paul talks about is a Person...His name is Jesus Christ...He took on the human body, and became not only a physical human being, but also a Spirit...He is also a Spirit, because we know He has been with His Father eternally...
When we cannot relate to a Spirit, or The Spirit, or connect to God, we can read the gospels and think of a Man, named Jesus...St. Paul, in a way, reminds us, that while we may have trouble relating and connecting to a Spirit...But when it is a Person, like Jesus, we can relate to Him...So while it is difficult to relate to an idea, something we cannot see, or an attitude, Jesus was in the flesh...We can relate to Him, and connect to Him...It was a Person, who said He would have a Second Advent, and come to us again from the clouds (like a Spirit)...The Person and the Spirit will return...
