John 1:1-18
Jesus is Divine
1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. 2 He was with God in the beginning. 3 Through him all things were made; without him nothing was made that has been made. 4 In him was life, and that life was the light of all mankind. 5 The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it.
6 There was a man sent from God whose name was John. 7 He came as a witness to testify concerning that light, so that through him all might believe. 8 He himself was not the light; he came only as a witness to the light.
9 The true light that gives light to everyone was coming into the world. 10 He was in the world, and though the world was made through him, the world did not recognize him. 11 He came to that which was his own, but his own did not receive him. 12 Yet to all who did receive him, to those who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God— 13 children born not of natural descent, nor of human decision or a husband’s will, but born of God.
14 The Word became flesh and made his dwelling among us. We have seen his glory, the glory of the one and only Son, who came from the Father, full of grace and truth.
15 (John testified concerning him. He cried out, saying, “This is the one I spoke about when I said, ‘He who comes after me has surpassed me because he was before me.’”) 16 Out of his fullness we have all received grace in place of grace already given. 17 For the law was given through Moses; grace and truth came through Jesus Christ. 18 No one has ever seen God, but the one and only Son, who is himself God and is in closest relationship with the Father, has made him known.
When Jesus was on earth, when we read about Him we can see His Divinity...John talks about it when He opens His gospel...We read that Jesus was with God in the beginning...All things have been made through Him, and in Him is the Life and the Light of this World...The Word became flesh and made his dwelling among us. We have seen his glory, the glory of the one and only Son, who came from the Father, full of grace and truth...We have seen His Glory, the Glory of the One and Only Son, who came from the Father, full of Grace and Truth...Out of His fullness we have all received Grace in place of Grace already given...For the law was given through Moses; Grace and Truth came through Jesus...
God is Spirit...And Jesus is the The Spirit representing the Presence and Power of God in Him...Jesus is our example of God and He shows us who God is...And so when we have seen Jesus, we have seen God...When Paul furthered this idea when he wrote to the Philippians...Paul referred to the Spirit of Jesus Christ...The Holy Spirit is sometimes called the Spirit of Jesus...The fruit of the Holy Spirit is love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control...These fruits represent God and Jesus and the Holy Spirit...Against such things there is no law...No one has ever seen God, but the One and only Son, who is Himself God and is in closest relationship with the Father, has made Him known...And so as the law was given through Moses Grace, Truth, and the Spirit are from and given through Jesus...God has given Jesus this Grace, this Truth, and the Holy Spirit...
Jesus goes on to teach us these different things...For everyone who exalts himself will be humbled, and everyone who humbles himself will be exalted...A new command I give you: Love one another...As I have LOVED you, so you must love one another...And know that I AM with you always; yes, to the end of time...So I say to you, Ask and it will be given to you; search, and you will find; knock, and the door will be opened for you...Behold, I stand at the door and knock...If anyone hears My Voice and opens the door, I will come in to him and eat with him, and he with Me...Do not be anxious about tomorrow, for tomorrow will be anxious for itself...Let the day's own trouble be sufficient for the day...For what shall it profit a man, if he gain the whole world, and suffer the loss of his soul?...But I say to you, Love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you, so that you may be sons of your Father who is in heaven; for He makes His sun rise on the evil and on the good, and sends rain on the just and on the unjust...I AM the Way, the Truth, and the Life...No one comes to the Father except through me...No one comes to the Father except through me...If you really know Me, you will know My Father as well...From now on, you do know Him and have seen Him.”...Do not let your hearts be troubled...Trust in God; trust also in Me...It is not the healthy who need a doctor, but the sick...I have not come to call the righteous, but sinners, to repentance...
Jesus LOVES us, that even thought we are sinners, our sins put Him on the cross, and He died for us, for our sins...
