John 1:1-14
1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. 2 He was with God in the beginning. 3 Through him all things were made; without him nothing was made that has been made. 4 In him was life, and that life was the light of all mankind. 5 The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it.
6 There was a man sent from God whose name was John. 7 He came as a witness to testify concerning that light, so that through him all might believe. 8 He himself was not the light; he came only as a witness to the light.
9 The true light that gives light to everyone was coming into the world. 10 He was in the world, and though the world was made through him, the world did not recognize him. 11 He came to that which was his own, but his own did not receive him. 12 Yet to all who did receive him, to those who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God— 13 children born not of natural descent, nor of human decision or a husband’s will, but born of God.
14 The Word became flesh and made his dwelling among us. We have seen his glory, the glory of the one and only Son, who came from the Father, full of grace and truth.
John 14:6-7
No One Comes to God, Except Through Jesus
6 Jesus answered, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me. 7 If you really know me, you will know my Father as well. From now on, you do know him and have seen him.”
St. John wrote that the Jesus was with God in the very beginning...And that He is the Word of God and became flesh and life and would come to dwell among us...He is the true Light of this World...So Jesus is the Word of God, and He is the One who gives us the interpretation of God's Word...God in the past had spoken through Moses and the Prophets and the Old Testament, but now God has spoken to all people with a Son...The Disciples got to be eyewitnesses to see his glory, the glory of the One and Only Son, who came from the Father, full of grace and truth...And as they saw His grace and truth, of course they also saw Him, and got to know Him...And when they got to know Him, they got to know the Father as well...And by seeing Jesus they also saw God...From a certain time on, after being with Jesus, they not only saw Jesus, but they also saw God...
So God's Son is the Ultimate Word to us and the Ultimate Truth for us...And God sent His Son to dwell among us to learn more about both Him and His Son...Jesus is the Logos, the Purpose of Life, the Word of God, the Bible...The Word of God is the Way, the Truth, and the Life...Jesus is the Ultimate Truth in Life, the Way to live our lives, and the Way, the Only Way to God...
