William Taylor - died 1889

William Taylor was a complete unknown when he climbed aboard rank outsider Pioneer for the 1846 Grand National.

He also won the Leamington Grand Annual in 1849 and the Cheltenham Chase in 1848.

He worked as a vet in Uttoxeter, moving from there to the Union Inn at Measham, Atherstone, in 1852.

William died at Melton Mowbray on Christmas Day, 1889.
