Ron Treloggen

Ronald Morley Treloggen was born at Butleigh, near Glastonbury, on July 13, 1955. A successful point-to-point rider, he rode his first winner under National Hunt rules on Panmure in the BMW Championship Hunter Chase at Chepstow on Whit Monday, May 31, 1976.

The best horse he rode was Reg Wilkins’ Double Silk, winner of 18 chases and five point-to-points. Ron rode him to victory in the 1993 Liverpool Foxhunters and both the 1993 and 1994 Cheltenham Foxhunters.

He also rode him in the 1994 Grand National, for which they started the 6/1 second favourite. Unfortunately, along with four other runners, their race ended at the thirteenth fence.
