George was born in Hull. He mostly rode in France, working for the Rothchilds and Le Blancs as well as royalty in Europe.

He won the 1903 City & Suburban (April 22, 1903) on the French-trained Brambilla and finished second on Vinicious in the 1903 Derby.

George died of a heart attack in The Bronx, New York on December 5, 1932, while carrying a case of turkeys up some steep steps.

He was 52.
