✞Chauncey E. Ernest died at the City Hospital Sunday morning January 20, 1918. He is survived by his wife, one daughter and two sons, Mrs. Grace M. Duncan, Roy H, Ernest of this city; Carl J. Ernest of Oneonta, N. Y., also one grandchild, two brothers. George of Boise, Idaho; Harvey D. of Cleveland, O. The funeral services will be held from the home of his daughter, No. 122 Cottage street on Tuesday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock. Interment will be in Glenwood cemetery.
✞THE NIAGARA FALLS GAZETTE Wednesday, April 30, 1941 Mrs. Myra Ernest Dies at Lockport LOCKPORT— Mrs. Myra Ernest, 87, widow of Chauncey E. Ernest, 173 Pine street, died last evening at the Lockport City hospital. She was, born on a farm in the Hinman road, town of Lockport, November 5, 1853, a daughter of Nathaniel and Emily Hixson. She attended the old Union school and for many years was a member of the First Presbyterian church. Her late husband was a well known Lockport farmer and former supervisor. Surviving are two sons, Roy H. Ernest, of this city, and Carl J. Ernest, of Oneonta, an one niece, Mrs. Letah Ramsaur of Los Angeles. Calif. Services will be held Friday at 2 p. m. at the Kennedy funeral home, in Walnut street, with interment in Glenwood cemetery

✞UNION-SUN AND JOURNAL LOCKPORT, N. Y. TUESDAY EVENING, NOVEMBER 4, 1941 - TAX APPRAISER, FORMER JUDGE DIES IN BUFFALO Lockport Attorney Had Long Wielded Political Influence - Roy H. Ernest, 172 Pine street, state transfer tax appraiser and former police judge, died at 10:20 this morning in Buffalo General hospital, where he had been critically ill for the past ten days. Mr. Ernest was born Feb. 13, 1875, on the Hinman road, Town of Lockport, the son of the late Chauncey and Myra Hixson Ernest. He attended the public schools and studied law in the offices of Brong and Jeffery and the late George E. Pound. At the age of 21 years he was admitted to the bar and entered practice in Lockport where he has been an attorney for 45 years. Always a Democrat, Mr. Ernest was elected police judge shortly after he was admitted to the bar and served in that capacity for 12 years. For the past 12 years he had been state transfer tax appraiser for Niagara county. Mr. Ernest had been treasurer of the Democratic city committee for many years and wielded strong influence in city and county politics. He was a past president of the Lockport Lawyers club, a member of Red Jacket Lodge, 646, F. and A.M., Genesee Commandery, 10, Knights Templar and Ismailia Temple of Shriners in Buffalo. He was a member of Lockport Lodge, 41, B.P.O. Elks. Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Nellie Clement Ernest, Lockport; and a brother, Carl J. Ernest, Oneonta. Funeral arrangements have not been made.

✞Niagara Falls Gazette - February 10, 1934 - page 13: Lockport Native Dies in Cleveland Harvey D. Ernest Widely as Known as Horseman - Harvey D. Ernest, 79, a native of Lockport, an owner and driver of trotting horses died at his home in Cleveland, Ohio. Mr. Ernest was born on a farm in the Hinman Road, Town of Lockport, a son of Solomon and Mary Ernest. He resided in Syracuse for several years after leaving here and for the past 15 years has made his home in Cleveland. He owned some of the fastest trotting horses in the United States and drove his own and other horses on the larger tracks throughout the country for a period of about 40 years. Surviving are one daughter, Mrs. George Arnold, of Cleveland; one brother George Ernest of Boise Idaho. Funeral services will be held Sunday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock at the home in Cleveland. The body will arrive in Buffalo Monday at 12:45 p.m. and will be brought to Chestnut Ridge cemetery here, where funeral services will be held at 2:30 o'clock Monday afternoon.
✞LOCKPORT (N. Y.) UNION-SUN AND JOURNAL, SATURDAY EVENING, FEBRUARY 10, 1934 - Harvey D. Ernest Dies In Cleveland - Former Lockportian Drove Trotters Many Years On Grand Circuit - Harvey D. Ernest, 79, native of Lockport and for many years an owner and driver of trotting horses in the grand circuit, died at 3 oclock yesterday afternoon at his home, Lorraine avenue, Cleveland, Ohio. Following services at the home, Sunday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock the body will be shipped here for burial in the family mausoleum in Chestnut Ridge cemetery. The body will arrive in Buffalo Monday at noon at 12:45 o clock. Services will be held at the cemetery at 2:30 o'clock, Dr. Henry F. Zwicker of Grace Episcopal church officiating Mr. Ernest was born on the Hinman road, town of Lockport, the son of Solomon and Mary Ernest, on the farm now owned by John McAuley. He was educated in the district schools and early took an interest in trotting horses. He owned some of the fastest horses in the country and for more than forty years drove his horses as well as those of others on the Grand Circuit tracks. For fifteen years he made his home in Syracuse and for the last fifteen years had lived in Cleveland. Surviving are one daughter, Mrs. George Arnold of Cleveland; one brother, George B Ernest of Boise, Idaho, and two nephews, Roy H. Ernest of this city and J. Carl Ernest of Oneonta, N. Y.

✞LOCKPORT (N. Y.) UNION-SUN AND JOURNAL, FRIDAY, MAY 2, 1941 - George B. Ernest Dies In Idaho - Word was received today of the death Thursday in Boise, Idaho, of George B. Ernest, 80, native of this area. He had been in ill health for several months. Born in the town of Lockport Mr. Ernest operated a farm until he moved to Boise about 30 years ago. He was a brother to the late Chauncey Ernest, Lockport, and the late Harvey Ernest, Cleveland. Survivors include two nephews, Attorney Roy H. Ernest, Lockport, and Carl Ernest, Oneonta; and a niece, Mary A. Ernest, Cleveland.
