Hate curses/abilities? Asta directly blocks them off, at the cost of him not being able to use his own abilities, or enjoy any class passives. It's an alright (if not worse) exchange, generally not enough to make him stand out and win against high difficulty enemies without the necessary gimmicks/ buffs.
