Holz Jumps to World Lead in Triple Jump

Berlin, Germany, 1st July 1922

Arthur Holz of Germany set the world-leading triple jump mark and a German national record of 14.99 metres (49-2 1/2) at the Deutsche Kampfspiele in Berlin in early July 1922. This would remain his personal best, as the following year he only managed slightly over 14.5 metres. He and no other German athlete had any chance of competing in the Paris Olympic Games.

German sprinters were fast in the 1920s. The SG Eintracht Frankfurt relay team clocked 42.6 seconds for the 4x100 metres, tying for third place in the season's world rankings with Nebraska's speedsters.
