There is no synopsis this time as this is just an opinion of mine<3.
The winner writes history, alas the people with the power write the history. I remember being so confused as a child seeing statues of people who had done bad things. I knew that everyone makes mistakes and that I wasn't a saint, but I couldn't comprehend why I had to walk past a statue of a man who ripped the heads off of his enemies' bodies and hanged them on his gates.
As a young girl I couldn't understand why we spoke of so many men and rarely mentioned women in history class. Why was it that only men did interesting things whereas women did nothing? After I grew up a little, school taught me that women didn't do anything because we were objects. Our voices weren't considered good enough to be heard. And when I tried to say it, I was assured that it no longer is like this. However, the rose tinted glasses fell and I realised it wasn't true. I started seeing that we are treated differently then men.
But then I learnt that not only women's voices were ignored. I learnt about racism and how badly people were treated just because of their skin colour. It upset me and when I tried to word it, I was dismissed because it was no longer a thing. I found out that it still was a thing. People were still hurt by racism. They still are.
And then I learnt about another interesting thing - genocide. I was so horrified by this, but I was, once more, told that I mustn't worry. It is a thing of the past. But people die every single day because of their country.
Don't worry about it.
Don't worry about it.
Don't worry about it.
It is so easy to close your eyes, turn around and act as though everything's fine just because everything is fine in your own backyard.
But turning a blind eye to all the injustice going on in the world. Minorities that are being oppressed right as I am typing this. The world is nowhere near perfect because people focus so hard on cancelling religion instead of taking action against the horrors going on in the world and making minorities heard.
What's more important? That I'm a Christian or that a child's been brutally murdered?
It's time we wrote the history. It's time we made the change we want to see in the world. It's time we spoke out.
We may feel small, but word of mouth does wonders.
Unless we do something about it, all these poor people who are being oppressed will just be one of the horrors a kid will learn about in their history class and wonder 'Why have people not done anything?'
