behind bars - part 6
read first:
At breakfast, I act very calm and collected as I have some Romanian ham, a fried egg and some Romanian Roasted eggplant salad that was actually very good. I ask Alicia and Harry about what they'll do today and then, when they ask me about what I plan to do about Olivia, I just say, "Oh, I found that she has an event at a bookstore in the Old Town, so I will just go there, see if she wants to talk to me.
Harry gives me an approving nod, and I feel bad that I am lying to him.
Well, I'm not lying entirely. She does have an event at a bookstore in Old Town. And I am going to see if she wants to talk. But I have planned something so that she will talk to me.
I get there an hour before her event and I hold a red rose in my hand. I have been desperately checking my hair and sprayed my mouth spray aggressively every 5 minutes.
The helicopter has been circling for the past 30 minutes, I think people are scared. I see her and I send the pilot the sign. As she approaches me, the rose petals fall like summer rain and I walk in front of her, holding the rose out.
I don't know what look I expected from her but definitely not the one I got. Her annoyance was palpable. Luckily there are only 4 other people on the street and I doubt any of them recognise me because they are very old. Glad they don't because it's obvious - I ruined it.
She gasps as though she is preparing herself to scream at me, but before she can I blurt out "I'm sorry, I was just trying to get your attention, but I didn't know how."
The next look she gives me is a perplexed one, like there was a malfunction in her brain. I continue, "It's just that... it's fate! Us. Don't you think it's strange? That we bumped into each other 3 times? There are 8 billion people. But we found each other by pure accident 3 times."
She still looks puzzled, but doesn't look like she wants to yell at me anymore. I go on, "And, and I can't stop thinking about you! Your warm smile, the way your write, your eyes that look like the midnight sky... I just... I just didn't know how to get you to look at me. And everyone always looks at me. I want to learn you, I want to see if what I'm feeling is..." I stop, pondering for a second if I'm insane, maybe I've got it all wrong, maybe it's not fate, but fate or not fate, I'm certain what that feeling is, "love."
I stop. Going over what I've said and repeating that same thing in my head.
I ruined it.
I ruined it.
I ruined it.
We fall into an awkward silence, that she finally breaks by whispering softly,
"Adam, I..."
to be continued......
