behind bars - part 2
'behind bars' Part 2!!!!!
Synopsis: The lights are flickering, could something real be born in a life where everyone is fake?
This week will pass by like all those before. Living for the sake of others, rather than my own. I walk fast to my car, not forgetting to smile and wave to the people who know me not, just the idea of myself. Perhaps I don't know me either. Maybe they do have the right to claim they do, my team seems to want me to share everything with them, my relationships or whatever you can call a PR stunt, my friendships or whatever you can call those who pretend to love you and be your confidantes, while waiting for the right moment to stab you in the back, my hopes, dreams, fears, tears.
I was doing the same routine, get out of the building, stop to wave, smile, look around, take a lucky fan's hand, say a quick 'hi', and answer some questions as I'm walking to the car, but unlike all those other times, without even realising it as I was in my robot-Adam mode, a girl was walking fast through the crowd, crashed into me, and fell on top of me.
"I'm so, so, so, so, so sorry." She blurted out as she got up and gave me her hand to help me up. She was very pretty, though embarrassingly short. Her hair was dark, her eyes resembled the midnight sky during a clear night, something in them was lit like the sky, you could see it in her eyes that she was smart. I almost needed to catch my breath.
The crowd was yelling mean things to her, and then I remembered - maybe she was a fan and this was her attempt at getting my attention. Well, if that was the case, she'd succeeded. I needed to learn her name.
"It's okay." I smile at her, a genuine smile, I could feel my stomach getting tied up in knots. Then I turn to the crowd and say "It's okay, accidents happen! Happily nobody was hurt!"
I wanted to ask her what her name was, but as I turned my attention back to her, she was already throwing "Excuse me"'s and "Coming through"'s in the crowd, leaving. So I guess she wasn't a fan.
But now I was. Hers.
So before I could consult with my ration, I was running after her. Well, I attempted to run after her. Security pulled me back into my crowd.
I was mad as the car drove away, I never even got to learn her name... there was no way I'd find her again.
The lights are flickering as the truth hits: I'm down bad. And I'll never find her again.
