A Cathedral was an extremely large & fancy church used for prayer and worship. Many are still standing today. The church had huge control over all people's lives so a great deal of time and money was spent building these grand churches.
During this time, many new and dangerous weapons were made. The gun was still not available, but that didn't stop them from making other items to cut, maim, slice, or dice an enemy. These weapons, like the flail, were especially important for the close "hand to hand" type combat that knights engaged in.
Stained glass windows were used in many church windows during this time. These colorful works of art often depicted scenes from bible stories. Most people during Medieval times could not read so these windows illustrated these bible stories so they could understand. Churches today still use this technique.
