The ancient Romans practiced polytheism which is the belief in many gods. They used the same gods as Greece they just changed the names. They had three main beliefs. First, it was important for the Romans to give offerings to their gods and pray to them. Second, they built temples and had festivals. Finally, they made an altar at home to give special thanks to their favorite god or goddess.
Over many, many years the belief in polytheism changed. Instead, the Romans started believing in monotheism. Monotheism is the belief in ONE God. They started believing in Christianity. One main belief in Christianity is that Jesus died for sins. Another is that the Bible is the holy book. And finally, they go to church. Christianity spread throughout all of Europe. Eventually, it was brought to the United States when people moved here.
