The sundial around the statue of Olav Tryggvason

Solurplakett

Each hour is marked with a bronze plaque.

We recreated the sundial from 1930. The shadow from the pillar of the monument to Olav Tryggvason functions as the pointer on a sundial (called the style, or gnomen), showing the time (in the summer). Each whole hour is marked with a round bronze plaque, which is embodied in the dial plate. The plaques show the Roman numerals from 1 to 12. They were made by metal casters from Nidaros Metalware Factory.
