The compass rose and historic cobblestone

We recreated the compass rose (the rose of the winds, or compass star) around the statue in accordance with templates from original drawings from 1930. We used cobblestone unearthed during archaeological excavations of the Town Square. The pavement is from approximately 1884. The stone lies in a fishbone pattern, as it did when originally laid. We also laid the cobblestone right up to the façade of the Hornemansgården building. Outside the Sommergården building, one will find reused cobblestone from the 1870s. As such, traces of the old Town Square have become a part of the new Town Square.
