Color Selection

Artist Statement: For this assignment we were instructed to take 5 pictures of people that also followed the rule of thirds and then use the color selection edit to make them stand out more. I chose to take pictures of 3 of my friends and one of my teachers. For the people I chose I made sure they all had bright things on or visible so that when I used the color selection I could just select the bright things on them and turn everything else black and white. For example, I took a picture of my teacher Mrs. Wood and I selected her scarf which was green and blue and then the lights behind her that are also green than everything else was black and white. I added more contrast to some of the original photos so that the parts that were bright would pop out more. I mostly just used the eraser and paintbrush after everything was selected so it'd be easier to just select the bright things.

One thing I'm proud of is how I got all the pictures to meet the rule of thirds because it's usually hard for me to take a picture along that definition. I mean I could edit and move it to meet the rule of thirds but I actually took some pictures that didn't really need to be edited or moved and meet the rule of thirds.
