Journalism- School

For this assignment we were assigned to take a photo of what school looks like due to Covid-19 Pandemic right now. Sadly, I couldn't go and take a photo of the actual school so I had to improvise. At first I was just going to take a picture of my computer with the work on it but I felt like that wouldn't be interesting. So, instead I set my laptop up and then my friends laptop too and then I also put our work out (we are quarantined together!) . Of course our work didn't look that neat. I wanted to make it interesting so I set it up with our books opened and on top of one another and also our pencils and then a notebook with notes. Just so it was a visual of all of our school work and what school looks like for us now which is notes, pencils, books and laptops all over our bed. Simply put, messy.

After I figure out how I wanted the picture to look I had to figure out how I was going to take it. I was going to try and take it from the side but when I did that it only focused on the laptops and I wanted it to focus on all of it. So, I remembered form a video in class that you can take it from above and get all of the items in it. I took a couple pictures from above and then found one that looked the best. After I took it I had to edit it because there was some spots that I had to fix.

I uploaded the photo and then put it into photoshop. When I put it in there I immediately cropped the photo and got rid of our legs and feet because I didn't want them to be a distraction. Then, after I did that and centered it I wanted to try and get rid of the blue blanket in the back and maybe fix the wrinkles on the sheet. Sadly that didn't work though, when I tried it duplicated the laptops and worked and was really blurry so I decided to just keep them. It shows what the room looks like and our room is basically our school as of right now. After I tried that I decided to add a filter to my photo called "Poster Edges". I increased the intensity but nothing else because I didn't want it to end up being too dignified but I did want the writing and letters to pop out to catch someones eye. I also think the more it stands out the more it'll help people see the purpose of the photo.

With this pandemic happening there wasn't many choices for taking a photo that represents school but with this photo I did good. It shows the online schooling we have to do, the clutter all over our room we have now, all of the notes we have to take..etc. Yes, I do wish I could've taken a photo at the actual school because for some odd reason, I miss school. But, with the limited choices I had I think this turned out good and the filter helped a lot.
