Glass/Transparency

For this assignment we were assigned to take a picture involving glass or transparent. On the same day in class we looked at a video on how to overlay and make it look like photos are in the object. Instead of just taking a picture of someone or something through glass or a window I decided to challenge myself and use the overlay tool which was very very challenging, learned my lesson.

To start this process I took a photo of a window while I was at my friends house and then the next day at school I took a photo of my friend in the hallway at the end of the stairs. I didn't think much about editing the contrast or saturation so I just left them as they were. After that I put them both into photoshop and made them each a layer. Once they were each a layer I had to go into each layer, lower the opacity and then erase what I didn't want in the photo anymore which may sound super easy but was actually very hard. After I did that I could turn up the opacity and have the window outline the photo of him but, after that was done all of the edges were messed up and you could see the sky and grass in the original window photo so I had to get rid of that. At first, I didn't have any idea how to get that all to go away and used everything but after maybe a good 30 minutes I figured out that I cut the photo of him wrong the first time so I had to go back and cut it again so that they wouldn't show anymore.

If I could go back and do this photo again I definitely would. I struggled a lot more and I probably would've chose an easier and simpler way to take the photo but I'm also really glad I challenged myself. I could've came up with a better photo and made it more interesting if I thought harder but, I'm still glad I tried to use new tools and get used to photoshop some more.
