For this assignment we were instructed to create a image that emphasizes portraiture. At first, I had simple ideas. I was just going to take a photo of my sister with christmas lights across her face or take a picture of her smiling and then write words around it to help go along with my inquiry question but, after thinking and asking my parents and sister what they think would be cool and creative because, Ms. Medsker always says to use your creative mind and skills while taking photos and after I asked my sister of course wanted to do something with clowns (she is obsessed with Stephen King movie IT if you couldn't tell). So, after she said that she told me she wanted to put on clown makeup which you can see in the photo and I thought it was creative so I let her do it. After that, instead of just having her look at the camera or smile I had her hold her IT book so that the clown would show and it would give more "character" to the photo. Along with all of that, I didn't want to have her stand in front of my door or wall so I grabbed a red sheet and put it over my door for her to stand in front of as kind of a background that goes with the rest of the photo.
After setting that all up I went into my camera roll and just edited the color enhance and made it darker with blackpoint and then put it into photoshop. Once I put it into photoshop I did edit it but I didn't do much. I used the spot healing tool and I tried to make the blanket look more smooth (there were some wrinkles) and just patch up anymore spots and then I added a filter to it with the filter gallery. The filter I added was called "watercolor" and I really like it because of the way it made the texture of the photo look and then I moved the shadow intensity basically all the way to the end which added all the darkness in the corner which I think really helped with the mood of the photo but other than those edits I didn't do anything else.
If I could go back and do this assignment over again I definitely would want to take another picture with a different idea because portrait is part of my concentration and I find them very interesting but, I wouldn't want to do this photo over again. I really like how it came out and how creative I was with it (don't really have a choice while in quarantine) but, I would want to keep this one the same it is even if it may be a little creepy :)
