For this assignment we were assigned to take a picture of the leading lines. At first, I had a lot of different ideas with how to approach this but I got home they wouldn’t work because my sister didn’t want me to take pictures of her and there was no one else I could so I had to think of a way to take them at school. I first used the railing in the hall and had my friend stand at the end but it ended up not coming out well so, I found the lockers and had a different friend stand at the end and tried to catch a picture off guard. This one didn’t come out bad and I liked how you could see the reflection in the locker so I decided to edit that one.
At first I just edited it in my camera roll and increased the saturation and contrast. I also used the sharpen tool and sharpened just so that his shirt and locker would be dark. Another thing I did was turn the black point all the way to the end so that there would be a dark shadow around the picture because I feel like it impacts the picture more. I was thinking about using color selection for photo edits in my photo but after I took the final photo and edited it I realized the colors were all so dark there was no point and after I edited it, his shirt matched the tile right under his feet and I thought that was really interesting. Another thing that came out really good after editing was that his face wasn’t the main focus and it was kinda blurry so you would be able to notice the leading lines more which is what the whole assignment was about.
If I could do this assignment over again I would really want to try and make my initial ideas and sketches I had first work out instead of having to come up with a new idea and I also wish I could’ve the photo more than I did but, I did include one of my inquiry which is including portraits in my photos but other than that I just feel like in later photos I should try and edit them more.
