Checking and Reading new messages
Select/open envelope to view message center
Contains new messages about an event that requires action and/or historical action entries
Select arrow to open up a specific message
Read message - contains link to the specific case ID# as an option
System time stamps when the messages are first opened and by whom (date/time)
Opened: response will change to Yes once message opened and indicate which user opened the event first.
Mark as read (Action must be taken to make the note/message disappear from the inbox. System time stamps when the message is marked as read and by whom). Select Mark As Read to acknowledge the message and remove the occurrence from the Occurrences With New Messages section of the workbench.
Reply (will make the note/message disappear from the inbox, write note/message and select submit to send to department)
"Reply Required" prompts the reader that a response is required on a particular event. Action must be taken.
System generated messages regarding historical actions are noted in this section as well. No action necessary.
Category 001 (new messages) on the workbench
Open event "select" details.
Navigate and select "Messages" box to view any notes/message from our department.
These occurrences have either system generated messages or communication with department investigators.
Select arrow to open up the specific message.
Read message
System time stamps when the message is first opened and by whom (date/time).
Mark as read (to make the note/message disappear from the inbox. System time stamps when the message is marked as read and by whom).
Reply select to respond to a message. After entering the text response, select submit to send to department.
Message thread now shows up in a reply message.

Unread occurrence messages will remain in this category until the new message is marked as read.
Sending a message can occur at any time after the draft or submitted status of an initial report
Messages should be sent through the specific case event.
Select "Messages" button to open the note section.
Once complete
Select "submit" button to send the message to the department
Close button - closes window without saving data.
The message will now show up in the message center with a date/time stamp from the facility/agency.
After the initial report is received, the department is able to communicate by sending notes. The intake coordinator reviews all occurrences to ensure resident/patient protections are in place to keep them safe during the investigation. If resident protections are not included in the initial report, the intake coordinator will send a note requesting additional information.
After the final report is received, the department will review the submitted information. Occurrence investigators may use the message function to send messages with investigative questions.
