MetroFire - cheap upgrade - ???

Get a NEXTEL phone for each dispatcher - do big incidents on a group

call - do mutual aid line boxes on a 1 to 1 basis - or bring back

154.22 as a 'dispatcher to dispatcher' repeaterized channel - use

153.83 as an input maybe

Use 483.2875R and 483.3125R as fireground channels

Use the new regional channels as backup / spare / reserve channels

For many communitys - 483.2875 and 483.3125 would become their 3rd and

4th FG channels - but of course they would be shared amongst 30 FDs

IIRC there are Silver, Orange, North Rptr, Central Rptr, South Rptr,

North FG, Central FG, and South FG channels - if you converted them

into all shortrange FG channels - you would have a pool of maybe 13

channels - plus 483.2875R and 483.3125R for repeaterized FG ops (long

long long range)

Lets see if I can remember who has a local 2nd repeater channel at

this time - Lynn - Revere - Chelsea - Everett - Belmont - Waltham -

Somerville sorta - Cambridge has 2 UHF repeater pairs or more - Quincy

- Saugus has simplex FD channel - Stoneham has simplex FG channel -

Winchester has a secret channel IIRC - Newton FD might have a 2nd

repeater channel too - plus Norfolk County FDs can use the Norfolk FG

channels - therefore - we can see that there is a lot of channel

capability amongst the various FDs
