Overview - as of Jan 1 2026 there are approx 200 PSAPs in Massachusetts - most cities and towns in eastern Massachusetts run their own PSAPs - western Mass is covered by some nearly countywide PSAPs (Berkshire County + Franklin County + Hampshire County) - not really sure how the wireless side of the equation works - the Mass 911 website states that there are two wireless PSAPs operated by the State 911 Office - the PODO 1 'wireless' PSAP is located in Mil;ford and covers areas of central and eastern Mass down to Cape Cod - the North Shore 'wireless' PSAP is in Middleton and covers Essex County and Middlesex County and apparently Revere, Winthrop, and Chelsea - no word on who answers wireless 911 calls in the western part of the State - 2/10/2026
