OCs

Those familiar with my old timeline no doubt remember some of the original characters who appeared as antagonists or supporting characters. Most of these characters reappear in the current timeline to varying extents.

Dr. Alice Portman

A cruel mad scientist who enjoys experimenting on people she deems interesting enough for scientific exploration. While Dr. Portman in the old timeline was engaged in physical as well as emotional and mental torture, for years now I have mostly abandoned her interest in physical torment and focused on her love of the mind. In the old timeline, she was intrigued by Seto Kaiba and Alister Mackenzie. In the new timeline, she is still fascinated by Seto, and also Yami Bakura and the Big Five. She may also become interested in Alister when she encounters him.

In the old timeline, Portman had no direct connections with anyone in the cast, but merely came to town to study them. In the new timeline, she worked in the human factors section in Gozaburo's KaibaCorp and was disliked by just about everyone there. Seto fired her when he took over and she promptly decided to study him from afar, finding him a fascinating and worthy subject. If others are caught in her research and end up being studied too, all the better for her.

Burt Thorton

An amusingly stressed and excitable man who runs a store in the Domino Mall. In the old timeline, it was a toy store. In the new timeline, it's a holiday decor store that also carries toys. Tea works for him in both timelines, usually around the holidays. He loves Christmas, but is scared of Halloween and its decorations. He is often found squeezing stress balls with a comb stuck in his hair.

Gabrielle Valesquez

A police officer who is a friend of Yugi and the gang and helps them in various problems when law enforcement is needed. Her role is pretty much the same in both timelines, although she doesn't appear as often in the current timeline.

Kasumi

A Hawaiian angel in the form of a small child. In both timelines, she comes to help the cast through deadly times and grants second chances when the situation warrants it. In the old timeline, when she was first introduced, Seto sometimes saw her riding her horse Wildfire, warning him of an impending disaster that could take his life. She was inspired by the horse's rider in the song Wildfire, and like that character, died very young. In the new timeline, she came with Shadi to bring the Infinity Ring to Yami Bakura, and later, revived the Big Four when they were all killed trying to save Lector from Khu. Later, she brings Radley back to life when he is forced to sacrifice himself to save everyone else from Lawton's Blast Spheres. She is occasionally on hand to offer guidance to characters who need it.

Khu

Probably the most complicated character to appear in both timelines, Khu is the brother of P. Seto (called Seth in the old timeline). In the past, many people believed P. Seto was a villain, thanks to both the dub's reworking of the first ancient Egypt flashbacks and the fact that he was an antagonist in the Forbidden Memories video game. Now we know that he was actually relatively good, which required some pondering when I wanted to bring Khu into the new timeline. They are still brothers, albeit half-brothers now, but their personalities have mostly switched. While Khu was the rational brother in the past and P. Seto was power-crazed, the opposite is true in the current timeline.

Khu is sadistic and cruel in both timelines, and has a troubled past with Yami Bakura in both. He tortured Yami Bakura nearly to death in the old timeline after Yami Bakura was abducted by the zealots and refused to help them. In the new timeline, he and Yami Bakura were friends during their youth, only Khu was always faking it in order to steal from Yami Bakura when the time was right to fund his zealots. He mortally wounded Yami Bakura during a fight when the truth came out and left him for dead. In both timelines, Bakura inadvertently time-travels to the past and saves Yami Bakura's life.

While in the old timeline Khu hated Atem and believed that Atem unjustly imprisoned his and P. Seto's mother, the new timeline has him considering Atem little more than an obstacle in his way. Ahknadin, his father, is the source of his hate here. He detests that Ahknadin abandoned his mother when he felt it wasn't proper for him to be married to a commoner, and he is enraged that Ahknadin was always interested in P. Seto when it was Khu who wanted power. In spite of these feelings, and the conflicts he and P. Seto had after the latter became Pharaoh, Khu loves his brother.

Khu carries deep grudges against anyone he feels wronged him. This includes not only Ahknadin, but Lector. Khu tried to use Mokuba as a means of escaping the Shadow Realm. When he tried to kill Mokuba to force the protagonists' hands, Lector possessed him to protect Mokuba. Khu won't forgive him for that indignity, and is willing to kill not only him, but the rest of the Big Five because of it.

Velma

Seto's maid. She is a good influence on him and Mokuba. She's cheerful, flighty, and excitable, and loves to bake pies. She's from somewhere in the Southern States. When I was first creating the character, I had two possible designs in mind for her, an African-American or a white redhead. I usually picture her as the redhead.

New OCs for the Current Timeline

OCs who never appeared in the old timeline but are important to the new one only:

Angelique

A Creole of color who is a descendant of the character Angelique from The Wild Wild West episode The Night of the Diva. She runs the family restaurant in New Orleans and has unwillingly worked as an assistant for her uncle, a corrupt vodun priest. She and Evangeline Leichter became close friends even while their families re-ignited an ancient feud, and both hope the feud will die with future generations. Angelique wants to work in law enforcement and solve mysteries, but isn't thrilled that most of the amateur mysteries she encounters involve ghosts.

Evangeline

Probably the most important OC, Lector's younger sister and one of the only ones in his family who really still cares about him. She starts out very innocently still idolizing their father, but after his horrific actions against Lector she changes her mind completely and moves out of the family house. She currently lives with Angelique in Evangeline's great-grandmother's house, and has also taken over the family business following her father's arrest. She has grown up a great deal over the course of the stories and has also gained some of Lector's vindictive and bitter behavior after seeing how the rest of the family treats him.

Wilbur Thorton

Burt's brother, the owner of an antique mall. He is quirky in his own ways and enjoys building card houses out of Duel Monsters cards. I created this character years earlier in the Final Fantasy VII story The Diamond Rose Glass, but now he has made his appearance in my YGO verse.
