Background: Kalin appeared by stepping through a portal that led to the classic YGO verse. Although at first he thought it was the past of his dimension, it was (erroneously) determined that it seemed to be an alternate dimension altogether. He came through during the time of his wandering to find a way to punish himself for being corrupted by the Dark Signers' evil and trying to help send the world to the Netherworld. He hates himself for what he did and can't comprehend that redemption is possible. The classic YGO characters have tried to help him see differently, but he is too lost in self-hatred and depression to be able to grasp it yet. Lector, reminded of Nesbitt's past struggles, is particularly concerned.

During Kalin's time in the classic world, he helped uncover that his versions of Yugi, Mokuba, and the Bakuras fell into another dimension during the Zero Reverse tragedy that devastated his Domino City. He worked alongside his new friends to get them back where they belonged. After lingering to visit Domino City during Christmastime, he went back to his own dimension to continue his travels.

He comes back to the classic verse when his world's Duel Monsters dimension is under attack by Yami Marik and Lawton. Many of the classic characters come to help him, and Lector in particular is relieved to see that Kalin has pulled out of his immense self-hatred.

Personality: When first seen, Kalin is very sad and thoroughly hates himself, describing it as an empty pit in his stomach that never gets better. He wishes he could find something worth saving in himself, but has not been able to do so and feels that he must discover a way to punish himself as he feels he deserves.

When he is seen again later, he is much better mentally and emotionally and is determined to fight for and protect his friends.

Reason for including him: Quite simply, I got a plunnie. Lol. I ended up fascinated by him and desperately wanted to include him.
