Waylon Paul Morgan — No. 1170

Waylon Paul Morgan, son of Bill Paul Morgan of Fort Smith and Leslie Hilburn Morgan of Jonesboro, was born on March 6, 1985, and died on Sept. 6, 2018. He was Iota Theta Zeta No. 1170.

Waylon grew up in Walnut Ridge and graduated from Walnut Ridge High School in 2003. Waylon furthered his studies at Arkansas State University and the University of Memphis. He was employed with Dick’s Sporting Goods as Lodge manager.He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Walnut Ridge.

He was a member of National Honor Society, Future Farmers of America, Key Club, Spanish Club, high school golf and football team, and Lambda Chi Alpha Fraternity. He was an avid outdoorsman, golfer, Arkansas Razorbacks fan and loved spending time with his family and friends.

Survivors include his father, Bill Paul Morgan of Fort Smith; mother, Leslie Hilburn Morgan of Jonesboro; brother and spouse, Nigel and Adrian Morgan of Jonesboro; maternal grandmother, Annette Smith Hilburn of Cherokee Village; paternal uncle and aunt, Tommy and Susan Morgan of Greenwood; maternal uncle and aunt, Tommy and Karla Hilburn of Little Rock; aunt, Natalie Hilburn Wallin of Walnut Ridge; uncle and aunt, Lanier and Caroline Robison of Germantown, Tenn.

He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. M.L. Morgan; maternal grandfather, Thomas Lawrence Hilburn; maternal grandmother, Betty Ruth Sturch Hilburn; and aunt, Amy Suzanne Hilburn.

Visitation and funeral services were held Sept. 12 at First United Methodist Church in Walnut Ridge. The Rev. Beth Purdue and Pastor Matt Stoval officiated, and eulogies were offered by Tommy Taylor and Lanier Robison.

Arrangements were by House-Gregg Funeral Home, Walnut Ridge.
