Michael R. Massengill — No. 359

Michael Ray Massengill, 64, of Jonesboro passed away Tuesday, May 16, 2017, at NEA Baptist Hospital. He was a member of Lambda Chi Alpha fraternity, Iota-Theta Zeta No. 359, and previously served on the House Corp. Board of Directors. He was the father of Matthew Massengill of Jonesboro, Iota-Theta Zeta No. 1160.

Brother Mike was born Feb. 24, 1953. in Harrisburg. He worked for Ridout Lumber Co. for 18 years. He was a Red Wolf fan, a member of the Jonesboro Parks and Recreation, the Jonesboro Exchange Club and the Craighead County Soccer Association as a soccer coach and referee. He was instrumental in the development of the Joe Mack Campbell Park. He was preceded in death by his parents, Pat Ray and Nadine Keeney Massengill, and his mother, Carolyn Keeney Nix. In addition to his son, survivors include two daughters, Mary Elizabeth “Mimi” Massengill of Fort Myers, Fla., and Micah Massengill of Vero Beach, Fla.; two grandchildren, Khloe and Kylie; his father, Tommie L. Nix of Jonesboro; two sisters, Carol Jean Cooper of Memphis and Linda (Bill) McKenna of Harlingen Texas; his girlfriend, Mary Beth Powell of the home; and several loving nieces and nephews.
