Eddie Joe Hurst — Iota Theta 435

Edmond Joseph “Eddie Joe” Hurst, Iota Theta No. 435, died Sunday, March 3, at the Piggott Community Hospital from a massive heart attack. He was 57 years old.

Eddie graduated from Arkansas State University with a degree in radio-TV communications. Upon graduation he returned home to farm with his dad.

Eddie loved to hunt and fish. He also enjoyed traveling, reading, camping and keeping up with current events. His primary hobby was photography. He was baptized at the Nimmons Baptist Church.

Eddie was preceded in death by his mother, Mary Ann Whitlock Hurst.

He is survived by his three children, Kayla Jo Reis of O'Fallon, Mo.; Kayla's mother, Kelly Loafman; one son, Quinton Hurst; a daughter, Danielle of Senath, Mo., who resides with their mother, Mrs. Shelia Dowdy. Other survivors include his father, Edmond H. Hurst of Nimmons; two sisters, Teresa Edwards of Jonesboro and Marsha Ives of Bryant; and several nephews, including Kevin Edwards of Jonesboro.

Funeral services were held March 6 in the Hoggard and Sons Chapel at Piggott with Davey Winberry and Dr. Adrian Parker officiating.

Honorary pallbearers were Dale Harmon, Rowdy Hayes, Mike Morgan, Clark Owen, Kenny Sample, Richard Sample and Robert Sample.

Eddie’s wishes were to be cremated after his service and for his ashes to be spread over the family farm. Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association.
