Donald P. Hudson — Iota Theta 121

Donald Paul Hudson, 73, of Jonesboro died Monday, Feb. 17, 2014, at NEA Baptist Memorial Hospital. He was born Dec. 14, 1940, to Homer and Inez Drope Hudson at Brookland.

He graduated from Jonesboro High School, Arkansas State College and the University Of Tennessee College Of Dentistry. At A-State he was a member of Lambda Chi Alpha, initiated in the chapter's first pledge class as Iota Theta Zeta No. 121.

Dr. Hudson practiced family dentistry in Jonesboro for 42 years, from 1964, when he opened his first practice, until his retirement in June of 2006.

He was a member of the American Dental Association, the Arkansas State Dental Association and the Northeast Arkansas District Dental Society. For many years he served as chairman of the board of Farmers Union Funeral Home, and he served on the board of directors of City, Water and Light Co. in Jonesboro. He also served for eight years on the board of trustees of Central Baptist College in Conway.

He was member of Cathedral Baptist Church.

He was preceded in death by his parents and by a brother, Maj. Homer Eugene Hudson.

He is survived by his wife, Karen Render Hudson.

After his retirement Don and Karen enjoyed spending two months in Destin, Fla., each year until his health no longer permitted him to travel.

Don enjoyed reading Robert Parker mysteries and doing crossword puzzles — in ink!

Visitation will be from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Thursday at Roller-Farmers Union Funeral Home, 1900 West Washington Ave. in Jonesboro.

Memorial services will be conducted in the chapel at 1:30 p.m., officiated by Dr. Win Bridges. Burial will follow in Herman Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be James Nelson, Byron Nelson, Max Render, Chad Render, Stanley Veteto and Andrew Veteto.

Honorary pallbearers are: Dr. Lauren Harmon; Dr. Brett Burris and the staff of Dental Solutions; the CWL Board of Directors, management and staff; Tim Hudson, Shannon Kaffka, Terry Osment, Greg Nall, Willis Gray, Dr. Larry McNamara, Rick Cheshier, George Surbaugh, Guy Enchelmeyer, Joe Gammill, Warren Dupwe, Jerry Crocker and David Nelms.
