George Benjamin “Ben” Baker, 58, died Tuesday, May 21, 2019, at Myrtle Beach, S.C. He was Iota Theta Zeta No. 645.He was born June 16, 1960, in Lumberton, N.C.He is survived by his wife of 30 years, Janine “Jae” Simpson Baker; his two children, Christine and Zachary Baker; a sister, Vicki (Steve) Bridgman of Marion, S.C;. and a brother, Jimmy (Lisa) Baker of Detroit. He was an uncle of William and Madeline Baker, also of Detroit.He is also survived by his father, James M. “Jim” (Jennie) Baker and was preceded in death by his mother, Anne Rogers Baker, both of Mullins, S.C.His love of music and sports was only surpassed by that of family and friends. Being an avid golfer played a significant role in his employment of 31 years at the Dunes Golf & Beach Club, where he cared for the members and guests with a keen wit and an infectious smile as manager of the Waterloo Turn Bar & Grill.Visitation was held Friday, May 24, at McMillan-Small Funeral Home. A memorial service was held Saturday, May 25, at Mullins Presbyterian Church, 809 Sandy Bluff Road, Mullins, S.C. 29574.In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Horry County Animal Care Center, 1923 Industrial Park Road, Conway, S.C. 29526.
