Ron Carmack — Iota Theta 113

Ron Carmack, 71, of Heber Springs, Iota Theta 113, died Saturday, March 9, 2013.

Ron had an extensive career with Arkansas State University system. During his 32 years of service in Jonesboro, he served as vice president of facilities. He added 13 more years of service to ASU after moving to Heber Springs. Ron has served the State of Arkansas as a board member of the Developmental Disabilities Services Board since 1992.

He served his country during the Vietnam War through service in the United States Army, and Ron was honored through the ROTC Hall of Honor on the ASU-Jonesboro Campus.

While he enjoyed many sports, Ron's favorite was always volleyball.

Ron is survived by his wife of 51 years, Pat Carmack of Heber Springs; two sons, Rick Carmack and David Carmack; one daughter, Jo Beth Mathis; eight grandchildren, Brett Carmack, Jennifer Drew, James Turner, Jon David Carmack, Rachel Carmack, Judd Luster, Clint Pigue, Megan Mathis and Jake Mathis; five great-grandchildren; one sister, Judy Malone; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Buel and Burgie Carmack, and his mother and father-in-law, Dale and Treva Haskins.

Visitation was held Monday (March 11) at Heber Springs Funeral Home, and a memorial with visitation was held Tuesday (March 12) at Emerson Funeral Home in Jonesboro.

In lieu of flowers, the Carmack family suggested a donation to the Conway Human Development Center – Volunteer Council, 150 East Siebenmorgan Road, Conway, Ark. 72032.
