Bill G. Warner — No. 110

Bill G. Warner, 75, of Arkadelphia, Ark., passed away Tuesday, July 15, 2014. He was a member of the first Lambda Chi Alpha pledge class at then-Arkansas State College, initiated as Iota Theta zeta number 110.

He later transferred to the University of Arkansas at Fayetteville and graduated there.

He was born June 25, 1939, to the late Lawrence and Daphne Floyd Warner in Walnut Ridge, Ark. He was a longtime employee of Arkansas Power and Light Co. (now Entergy) and a real estate broker in Arkadelphia.

His wife, the former Sue Cato of Walnut Ridge, survives him. A Phi Mu, she was Iota Theta Zeta’s first Crescent Girl and A-State’s Homecoming queen in 1960. They were married for 53 years. Sue is the brother of Jack Cato, Iota Theta number 114.

Other survivors include his second mother, Ruth Cook Warner of Walnut Ridge; two sons, Mark (LaDonna) of Sherwood, and Kirk (Hope) of Arkadelphia; two brothers, Wendell (Mary) Warner of Texarkana, Ark., and Laney (Kim) Warner of Chattanooga, Tenn.; a sister, Tonda Wheelis of Pocahontas; a brother-in-law, Jack (Dorothy) Cato of Little Rock; two sister-in-laws, Mary Ann (John) Stipe of Forrest City and Jane (Bill) Foster of Hot Springs Village; and four grandchildren, Sarah Miller of Arkadelphia, Isaac Warner of Fort Sill Okla., Nathan and Rebekah Warner of Arkadelphia.

The family would like to give special thanks to physician Nolan Hagood of Arkadelphia and to Twin Rivers Nursing Home and Rehabilitation Center for the exceptional care during his stays; and Twin Rivers Medical Supply for their continuous support over the years with his home medical needs.

Visitation was held July 17 at Ruggles-Wilcox Funeral Home in Arkadelphia. Private family burial was in Rest Haven Memorial Gardens at Arkadelphia.
