1793. July 22nd. Winchester. On Tuesday at the Castle of this City was held the General Quarter Sessions of the County. Richard Clay was indicted for a felony at Hinton Ampner in Hampshire. (Hampshire Chronicle).
1794. July 7th. Committed to the County Gaol. Mary Clay for stealing linen from Mr Joseph Hill at Whickham with whom she lived as servant. (Hampshire Chronicle).
1794. Aug. 4th. To be imprisoned at Brideswell. - Mary Clay for stealing sundry articles from Mr Hall's at the Kings Head. Wickham where she lived as chambermaid. Sentenced to 6 months and fined 1 shilling. (Hampshire Chronicle).

1864. Admiralty Records. John Plowright married Charlotte Amelia Clay at Kent Street Chapel. Portsea. Hampshire - recorded for the Royal Navy's Widows Pension. (TNA Ref.- ADM13/71/505).
1869. Oct. 23rd. Robbery at Alverstoke. Two men were charged with stealing 3 fowls the property of George Clay at Fareham. Major Clay lives at Catisfield Lodge near Fareham. The men were caught by the policeman who took the fowls to Major Clay. They were sentenced to prison with hard labour. (Hampshire Telegraph).
1887. Oct.1st. Charles Clay beer retailer and ex policeman was involved with some people in a horse racing dispute resulting in a case of assault by Mr Moore horse watcher on George Kirk. He pushed Mr Kirk in the duckpond and said to Clay hold my watch while I go in the water and he pushed Kirk's head under and said that's a good wash. Mr Clay was in the police force and left it 4 years ago and his character was marked good. The prisoners were committed for trial at the next Quarter Sessions. (Hampshire Advertiser).

1891. Aug. 6th. Southampton Police Court. There were drunken soldiers yelling and singing on the streets of Southampton and Head Constable Clay said the situation was difficult as they were very short handed. (Southern Echo).
1892. Dec.17th. Presentation to Mr Phillip S. Clay late Chief Constable of Southampton and now holding a similar position at Nottingham. The residents of Southampton in appreciation of his good work presented him with an inscribed silver tea and coffee service also thanks were given to Mrs Clay. Mr Clay was also Chairman of the Southampton Philharmonic Society. (Southampton Newspaper Report).
1922. Sept. 8th. Workhouse Inmates Entertained.- For 23 years Mr W. M. Clay of Alverstoke has entertained the inmates of the Alverstoke House of Industry. (Hampshire Telegraph).
1922. 362 British Red Cross War Service Medals were presented to members of the Hampshire branch including Dorothy Pelham Clay. (Newspaper Report).
