1407-56. Ralph Trewyk and Alice his wife daughter of Richard Clay plaintiffs concerning lands in Over Langdon and Atterbarn. Cornwall. (TNA Ref.- C1/17/253).

1410. John Langedon was brought to the Kings Bench to answer allegations  of Lucy Clay that some 7 years previous he had broke into her property at Langdon, assaulted her, kept her prisoner and stole --- goods worth £40. (Ref.- History of Parliament volumes 1386 - 1421).

1433. July 8th. Robertus Clay member of parliament for the Borough of Helston summoned with others to meet at Westminster. (Ref.- Members of Parliament for England)

1433 - 67. Robert Clay defendant in Chancery Court Case concerning land in Liskeard. Cornwall. (The National Archives Ref.- C1/39/158).

1436. Jan. 21st. Robertus Clay MP for Liskeard. Cornwall summoned with others to meet at Cambridge and afterwards at Westminster. (Ref.- MPs for England).

1436. April 21st. Richard Clay and 11 others, jurors at an Inquisition held at Launceston. Cornwall concerning  land of a desceased tenant. (TNA Ref.- C139/77/36 mm 4 - 5).

1685. An ancient family decended from Nicholas Seigneurs de Claye of Champs Gerault in Brittany. France emigrated to Looe in Cornwall and the surname eventually became Nicolas of East Looe. (Ref.- ----  Book of knights, pedigrees  and coats of arms. - Hathi Trust).
