Woodlawn House was a two-story small house student residence located north of 17th Street between Avenues I and J.
The building initially housed members of the Caroline Belvin Society (nicknamed the CBs), one of the many literary societies existing on campus in the early Twentieth century.
In 1959, the CBs became the Delta Mu chapter of Alpha Delta Pi sorority, and the building reflected the name change. Residence Life classified this and the other surrounding small houses as Sorority Hill. The sorority remained in the house for 63 years.
The Texas State University System Board of Regents approved the eventual demolition of all eight buildings on Sorority Hill during the May 2011 meeting. However, no timeline was given for when this would occur [3].
All sororities moved off campus at the end of the 2018-19 school year. In spring 2019, Residence Life announced the building would be known as Woodlawn House for the 2019-20 school year, named for Sam Houston's house.
SHSU demolished the houses on Sorority Hill in March 2021.
