Center for Innovation and Technology Building

Center for Innovation and Technology Building

The Center for Innovation and Technology (CIT) Building is located at the northeastern corner of Sam Houston Avenue and 21st Street.

SHSU built the one-story metal frame building for the Department of Art, and the department used it for design, painting, and drawing classes. Campus maps of the 1990s were less detailed, simply labeling Building D and its neighboring buildings in the Art Complex as a collective group called the Fine Arts Complex [1]. The Art Department moved into Hoyt Art Building in 2019.

Before this location, SHSU housed the CIT as part of the Huntsville Area Technology and Business Complex (HA/tch) University Heights shopping center along Avenue I.
