Roy H. Adams
Adams was the Dean of the College from 1947 to 1951. Adams Hall, and later Adams House, was named in his honor.

William H. Adamson, Sr.
Adamson was a professor of physics during the early 1940s. One of the Departmental Dorms - Adamson Hall - was named in his honor.

J. Stewart Allen
Allen was the dean of the College of Humanities and a former professor of English and dean of graduate studies at SHSU. Allen held two degrees from the University of Texas and a Ph.D. from Vanderbilt. The student residence once occupied by the Pi Kappa Alpha fraternity was renamed in his honor shortly after his death.
Martin J. Anisman
Anisman was the tenth president of SHSU (1989-95). He earned degrees from Syracuse University (A.B., English Literature) and New York University (M.A., Ph.D.). Anisman resigned from SHSU in 1995 to serve as the fourth president of Daemen College (Amherst, NY), where he served until his retirement in 2011.
Stephen F. Austin
Austin, known as the "Father of Texas" and the founder of Anglo Texas, brought thousands of settlers to Mexican Texas from the United States. Austin later ran as a candidate in the 1836 Texas presidential election but was defeated by Sam Houston. Houston appointed Austin as Secretary of State and held the position until his death. Austin College and Stephen F. Austin State University in Nacogodoches are two educational institutions that bear his name. The Austin College Building in Huntsville, now Austin Hall, carries his name.
John H. Aydelotte
Aydelotte was a professor of education. Aydelotte House was named in his honor.
