Fall 2020 Newsletter

BROOKRIDGE HOA FALL 2020 NEWSLETTER

Greetings fellow residents!

Since the Board decided not to meet in October, we thought we would provide you with a general update on what has been going on in the community since we last met in early September.

All community trees were pruned and shaped at the end of September. The shrubs have been sprayed and the sprinkler system has been shut down for the winter. Two trees that fell on the Quaker Ridge perimeter as a result of storm damage have now been replaced and a tree stump near the entrance to the pool is due to be removed shortly.

The pool officially closed on October 12th, BUT NOT BEFORE TWO DETERMINED RESIDENTS….MARK AARON and MONICA TEUSCHER (affectionately referred to as our King and Queen of the Brookridge Polar Bear Club!!!) got in their final laps during the first week of October. Kudos to both of you!!!

ONCE AGAIN, THE BOARD WISHES TO THANK THE COMMUNITY FOR ITS COOPERATION IN ADAPTING TO THE COVID -19 POOL RULES. AS A RESULT, WE WERE ABLE TO HAVE A VERY SUCCESSFUL AND ENJOYABLE SWIMMING SEASON.

PETER CLARK, son of Brookridge resident Louise Clark, has now given 10 vocal concerts at Brookridge!

We are truly grateful for the joy he has been bringing us during these unprecedented times.

As a small token of our appreciation, the Board recently presented him with a gift….a pickle ball racket…..since he has become an avid participant in what has now informally become our pickle ball league. F/Y/I, Peter has told various residents who have inquired, that a contribution to The Actors’ Fund would be the best way to show their appreciation for his performances.

..…More about pickle ball, which has really taken off, thanks initially to ELLIOT JACOBS, who taught some of us the rules and guided us through our first season, several years ago. Now, there are several games a week, most notably on weekends, when as many as 8-10 players come together for several hours of exercise, fun and comradery (facilitated by, who else but……. Monica!!!! Thank you, Monica!)

With the addition of pickle ball, the tennis court has been getting more use. Please note that the court is open on a first come basis to every homeowner. The court is also available for homeowners' guests when accompanied by a homeowner. To date, a sign-up sheet has not been necessary, but we do ask players to limit their time to an hour if someone is waiting and appreciate whomever is waiting to use the gazebo rather than the sidelines as a waiting area.

Regarding our condo conversion project, Claude Priolet has submitted a revised document to the NYS Attorney General’s office. He is expecting additional requests for changes or approval of the document within the next several weeks. He will

then advise us of next steps.

Attached you will find an Excel spreadsheet with the Brookridge Updated Homeowner Directory and a list of recommended vendors for home maintenance We would very much appreciate having at least one cell phone number per unit for emergency purposes only. If you haven’t already done so, please provide a cell number(s) to either Paul Spindel pspindel@gmail.com or Leslie Molinoff at lesliefm@aol.com. Also, please review the directory for any other last minute corrections.. We would like to post the new directory to the web site by November 9th.

The next Board meeting is scheduled for November 11thth at 4PM, either in person observing social distancing, or by video conference.

Please continue to be safe and well and we look forward to seeing you around campus!

Leslie Molinoff, Secretary
