Personal Connection
The fact that this topic is on my mind is due to me relating to the topic in a close way. I have found myself stuck at the end of the barrel with my emotions. It has been hard learning how to pick things up on my own without a Father figure. I don't wish that on any young native child, only because that's how they grow as a person. They mature with the love of a mother and they get knowledge from a father figure. These are major roles but I only had one side of that role. This had to fall back on my grandparents to raise a young native kid, and they taught me well on the basis of how they raised their children. She was the best teacher to teach me about life.

“Sharing One Skin”-Armstrong
The article itself speaks volumes to a new point of view. I know that this may sound out of text but it said to me seeing my Grandma. To know she is in a better place now puts my heart and my mind at ease. She was always that person I could talk to about anything and she also taught me a breathing technique to just focus and let troubles walk away, and it was just me, my mind, and heart with my soul to guide me. This helped me understand the Okanagan people better because of their connection with everything. This is such as them focusing on community and how they cope with situations that deal with compassion and thoughts. This interpretation of the Okanagan people is of their breakthrough in the mindset, soul, heart, and spiritual connection to the land and what it means to care. This identity of the Okanagan people will forever be connected to the earth.

“How place names impact the way we see landscape”- Toastie
This is good because the Dine people have an understanding of the land not sharing the same energy as the white men and their disrupting knowledge. The trauma of colonial names keeps people thinking of why they're up there due to their historical past, but they never show the dark history of and how they caused us to be used to these pathetic names. This is why Identity is important to the Dine and other ancestral people with names to be spoken of and spread through nations and time.

“And Then I Went To School”- Joe Suina
The way I see it, the Identity he speaks of is his home and family. He grew up in a stable household that gave him the nourishment he needed to grow and succeed. But, this drastically changed when he went to school and was told “Leave your Indian at Home”. This was a bold move due to being Native that's your entire lifestyle and you want me to leave it at home so I can be you. That confused me, not only with the statement but the fact that it was all native school but taught by white folks. It’s a quick value shift and a forced change of perspective with intimidation of “you need to learn” This is so you’ll be socially accepted in the world of white men.

"NICWA" - Swell
In the Article "NICWA'', by Swell. I saw almost my whole SHP in this article than ever knew. This has every right to know about Native American children. It has never been rough but I worked through it as my grandmother would have intended for me. It shows why my topic is important to all Native Children. But, however, relate because my family cares so much about me it's crazy to think that not most native children my age have this type of system.

"Understanding the origin of American Indian Boarding schools"- Sarah K. Elliott
The article "Understanding the Origin of American Indian Boarding Schools", by Sarah K. Elliott. I mean speaks for why its generations trama with separation from the start. It just states that "children were separated". This is why separation was tough on adults as parents with how they are from their own families. I saw this happen to mine but was overcome by the fact that it was just the start of my life.

"ONE HOUSE, ONE VOICE, ONE HEART"- Sally Hyer
The book "ONE HOUSE, ONE VOICE, ONE HEART", by Sally Hyer. That spoke highly of the schools' accomplishments for the next generation of Native Americans. To change how we are stereotyped, rather than be educated and show your families the amazing accomplishments of your life. This type of family will test your limits and use it to make you better than the regular school system.

"After Delays, Utah Bill To Protect Native Kids Against Being Removed From Their Tribes Moves Forward"
Courtney Tanner speaks on the effects she sees in the article "After delays, Utah bill to protect native kids against being removed from their tribes moves forward" when it has a lot of elders & some young adults talk about the struggles of being ripped from their own families and still dealing with the pain. This article says it all and even more speaks about being or keeping that attachment to their own culture. Even having one parent is even better than having no one to go to. The point is to keep Native with Native at any cost or should say at all costs.

"It's Family Time Parent-Child Interactions By Race And Hispanic Origin Before And After The Covid-19 Pandemic"
In this type of article/conference, "It's Family Time Parent-Child Interactions By Race And Hispanic Origin Before And After The Covid-19 Pandemic" by Yeris H. Mayol-Garcia. This shows us the factors of being more engaged in your child's life rather than having the same old cycle of not being there for your child. The child needs more help as they develop their skills in life from you as a parent and it just comforts them if you just get what they go through.

"The Science Behind How Parents Affect Child Development"
Ms. Yuko Munakato had an interesting TED talk on "The Science Behind How Parents Affect Child Development". She speaks a lot about how parents should raise their own children in a style that will come out naturally. The struggle of seeing how Native parents raise their children with the parents' trauma and what it was in their own time. Their parenting skills have a lot to do with why their children come out misbehaving or well-behaved.

"An International Look At The Single-Parent Family"
I like how Mr.Wassman described the other countries in the Article "An International Look At The Single Parent-Family". He speaks of how it is a struggle to raise a kid in countries such as Denmark, the Czech Republic, Hungary, and New Zealand. In these countries, it's rough due to only having one parent rather than two parents because these countries are on their stats of parenting.

"Childhood Risk Of Parental Abuse In Tanzania"
You know the article "Childhood risk of parental abuse in Tanzania" by Ms. Gaydash speaks and shows a lot of concern with how kids are being raised in this tribe based out of South Africa, especially with the conditions they are living in, as well as the low economy they have out there. I can see that the article speaks or tells us that a lot of factors play with the child's mental health. This is a reality check for me and our community because these kids are growing up lost and confused. To compare we live as middle-class citizens in our tribes but in this tribe, they are below the lower class because they aren't cared for by their government or anyone else so it's basically all for themselves.

"Shocking Facts How Japanese Kids Are Raised"
This YouTube video "Shocking Facts How Japanese Kids Are Raised" really shines a light on how two parents' views from different cultures are needed to grow. This helps the child's development process and will give them an upper hand. They both speak of how they grew up but how their parents taught them different views of growing up. One culture needs to have a bond close to teaching what is right and wrong but also to be independent. The other culture is taught to grow up on your own but to keep family close. They both use their teachings to raise their child and they use their own cultural views to meet in the middle and be as one teacher.
