Veterans Day Parade

The LaSalle Springs Veterans Day Parade started after the pandemic and is now an annual tradition. We hold this parade to celebrate and honor all the men and women who have bravely put their lives on the line to protect us and our country.

All the students at LaSalle stand outside with their pom-poms, posters, and American flags. Everyone cheers on the Veterans as they drive around the parking lot in decorated cars. Our Scouts lead the parade carrying the flags, and our choir sings.

Some students' favorite parts of the Veterans Parade were seeing the Veterans smile, seeing all the cool cars, and cheering on the Veterans.  A special thanks to the Veterans Club which plans the parade every year (pictured above to the left).

Speaking of the Veterans Club, the club is led by Mrs. Toth. She answered a few questions about the parade...

Q: What did the parade planning involve?

A: "We have a committee of staff members who work together to organize the parade.  However, it takes everyone in the building to make this a success.  It is not one or a few, it's our entire LaSalle community!"

Q: What was your favorite part of the parade?

A: "My favorite part is the veterans who attend.  They are so grateful.  You can see their smiles and tears and know that they feel appreciated. "

Q: What does the Veterans Club do?

A: "The club meets to organize the flags, pom poms, and posters we have for students to use during the parade.  They also greet every veteran during the parade to welcome them and share a few goodies that we have for them."

Q: Why do you guys plan this parade?

A: "We plan the parade to show our gratitude for the sacrifices that our military veterans make for our freedoms in America.  We also host the parade to teach our middle schoolers what Veterans Day is all about.  We don't want to take for granted the freedoms we have, and the sacrifices it takes to make our country great."

Thank you, Mrs. Toth and the Veterans Club for planning this parade, students of LSMS for wearing red, white, and blue to show your support, and to all the brave men and women who have fought for our freedom.

Happy Veterans Day!
