Student Showcase

7th Grade Reader's Theater

On the Dream Team in 7th Grade they did a Reader's Theater assignment where students used their own realistic fiction stories to act out in front of their classes.  We talked with some students and teachers involved in the Reader's Theater and this is what they said.

The majority of students we interviewed said that they were co-script authors and that they introduced their group to the class. Some of the students brought props for their group like clothes, bags, etc.  Some parts that were easy for the students were acting their character, reading their lines, and adding in a narrator to their script.

Some of the teachers thought that doing reader theater would be fun for students to showcase their new realistic fiction stories students wrote. The teachers thought that having their students use their own stories was cool because they could see how the students changed their stories to add action or drama. The teachers thought the students' stories were great for the activity.

I would like to acknowledge all of the students who participated. I would also like to thank Mrs. Kindt and Ms .Lammers for putting this together for our 7th grade students.

8th Grade Choir, Orchestra, and Band Concerts

Orchestra

The orchestra concert was a catch. Many families and friends came to see the wonderful performances showcasing the 6th, 7th, and 8th graders showing off what they've learned! The 6th graders continued to practice what they had learned from elementary school and learn more parts and more exciting pieces! This was an amazing performance of what each grade can learn and what others can look forward to!

Choir

The choir concert consisted of 6th, 7th, 8th grade, and was directed by Mrs. Houchins. They sang beautifully with a full tone and good facial expressions. 6th grade brought great energy to their songs for the first time singing in two parts and being able to hear both parts. 7th grade brought great tone and blended all three parts together. 8th grade for their final winter concert had great facial expressions, dynamics, and having a full tone.

Band

The band concert blew the audience away with their sound! 6th grade had an amazing performance by showing the audience all the new techniques, the impressive progress in only 5 months, and the incredible sound they had. The 7th grade also had an amazing performance, showing the audience their pure sound and sowing the 6th graders what to look forward to! To conclude the concert, the 8th graders stole the show and ended the night on a good and powerful note with North Face

8th Grade Choir, Orchestra, and Band Field Trip

During December the band, orchestra, and choir go on a fun field trip to Geggie, Blevins, and Eureka! The field trip was an amazing opportunity for the 5th graders to see how much fun it is to be in music and the fun songs you can learn. Even some of the younger grades came to watch the performances.
