7th December 2023

I interviewed the 6th and 7th grade counselors Mrs. Patton and Mrs. Ianozzo.

Q: What is your favorite part about being a counselor?

I: Getting to interact with students every day. That's something i know is a guarantee and that's one of the best parts.

P: Every day when I come to work I get to help people.

Q: What is your advice for kids struggling with mental health?

P: Reach out to a trusted friend and adult. Ask help for with what you need support with.

Q: What resources do you recommend for kids who are struggling?

P: 988 hotline, School counselor, teen talk, Advisory teacher, CHADS, Crisis text line text 8ct to 741741.

Q: What is the most common contributor to bad mental health?

I: Overuse of social media.

P: Drugs, alcohol, bad coping strategies, poor self-esteem, etc.

Q: Do you think that grades are necessary for a good school experience?

I: Grades are necessary however they do not reflect the strengths of individual students, so students need to be able to have the opportunity to find successes in different avenues in finding success other than just having good grades.

P: I would say that grades are a motivator for people to learn which makes it important.
